Crusty Potato Bread

This is to answer the question on how to perhaps prepare this w/out a bread machine. So here goes: 1. Take 1/2 cup of the water needed and heat until warm about 110-115 degrees F. Mix this with the yeast and the sugar. Allow to bubble in an oven on WARM for 20 minutes. In the mean time mix together 1 cup of flour needed and the 1/2 cup instant mashed potato flakes, set aside. 2. Melt the butter, salt and remaining water (3/4 cup) until WARM (see temp above) and add to the first yeast mixture. 3. Then add the flour/instant mashed potato flakes to the liquids. Then, I would add the remaining flour as needed. 4. Knead dough for 10 minutes, then set aside to rise until doubled about 1 hour. Once it has risen, punch dough down and let rest 5 minutes. Then, shape dough as you want, put in bread pan, as rolls in 9x13" dish, etc. Allow to rise again, for about 45 minutes. Bake rolls at 375 for 20-25 minutes. Bake bread for 40-45 minutes or until done. Good Luck!

Fantasy Fudge

This was my first time making fudge & this turned out GREAT! Everyone says it just melts in their mouth. I also doubled the recipe & put it in a 9x13" pan lined with foil. It was very thick. I used real butter because that is what I had on hand, boiled it for 4 minutes once it was at a steady rolling boil. I was afraid I wouldn't get it to the soft ball stage it needed to set - but it did! Thanks!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

I just made these for our volleyball fundraiser and wanted to make the right cookie that would sell! This was it, EVERYONE just raved about them; they are an eye catcher on the table. I also froze the candies before-hand and it did the trick. I ran out of candies and tried to make regular peanut butter cookies, but the went almost completely flat. Next time I will still cook them in the mini-muffin tins to make mini peanut butter muffins! Thanks! I will be making these again.

Red Raspberry Vinaigrette

My grocery store has been out of my favorite raspberry hazelnut vinaigrette for 1 month now, and I was going through withdrawls! So...I found this recipe after trying a more complex recipe involving oregano, dijon mustard, etc. and this hit the spot better than that! 5 Stars for simplicity, and great flavor! Thank you!

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken

Very good! I added minced garlic instead of powdered, added some ground ginger and used sesame oil in place of the vegetable. I think that really added to the dish. Also, at the end I placed pinapple rings on top of each chicken breast & took the marinade & mixed corn starch on the stove top to make a sauce for the chicken. Ate this with white rice & a salad. So good!!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

So easy! I have always had a tough time making good pizza crust, but I am so happy I tried this. I also let this rise for 1/2 hour, and baked it on a pizza stone & it was nicely brown & crispy. Maybe I will add a tad more salt next time or onion powder to give it some more depth. Thanks!

Sweet Party Mix

This was so good! I added cheerios, pretzels, and honey roasted peanuts when baking in the oven and then added m&m like other reviews after it cooled. This definately had a lot of glaze even with the added ingredients. Maybe next time I will add less butter and maybe even more dry ingredients so it isn't too sweet. Thanks!

Chocolate Mint Dessert Brownies

SOOOO Good!!! I added 1/4 tsp salt and one tsp vanilla to the brownie mix, and didn't have creme de menthe so I used 1 tsp mint extract. I made a batch of the mint frosting with 3 tsps mint extract as someone suggested, and that was WAY too much. Tasted like toothpaste! Otherwise this is a top notch recipe! Tastes so good & it just melts in your mouth! Yum!!

Honey Baked Chicken II

This was good...I made it a little healthier. I used chicken breast, and I browned them on the skillet with a little olive oil and minced garlic. Added salt & pepper, added some oregano, and basil for a savory flavor. I then made the marinade with the honey and regular mustard. I saw that Dijion mustard had a more sweet flavor/aroma. I then added a couple of shakes of paprika and cayanne as someone else suggested. I omitted the butter all together. I flipped it twice, and before it was done I added some cornstarch & water directly to the dish in the oven & it thickened the sauce up, and put this over the chicken when I plated it. Thanks!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Wow! This was the first time I have ever made doughnuts & these are delicious! I just started to work with yeast, so I am starting to branch out. I changed a couple of things per the reviews. I used a little less than 1 cup of sugar in the dough, and added about 1 tablespoon to the yeast/water mixture and set in the oven on warm while I prepared the milk mixture. I heated the milk on medium heat along with the sugar, shortening, and salt. Once the shortening melted, I took it off the burner & added 1-teaspoon vanilla extract per other reviews and a dash of cinnamon. I then combined the yeast & milk mixtures, and instantly added 2 cups of flour to cool off the milk, mixed well then added the 2 eggs, which I had beaten. I then added more flour as needed and continued with the recipe as is. I think the extra sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon enhanced this recipe and made for a wonderful flavor. I also made a maple glaze since it is fall along with the vanilla glaze. Delicious!

Chicken with Couscous

You must try this recipe! I used instant brown rice, and added one cube of chicken boullion for each cup of water required to make the rice. Did this for the chicken & veggies as well and added 1/2 more cup broth because it is so great! I added diced red peppers & mushrooms, used fresh grated ginger & minced garlic. Delicious! I also used a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes in place of the pepper since my boyfriend cannot eat spicy food. As it was cooking, he was outside working & when he walked in the door he said he was hoping the aroma was coming from his house!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Super delicious!! I made this for a mexican get together with friends and everyone LOVED it. I made a few changes, we didn't have any fresh raspberries so I bought frozen and thawed them a bit. We didn't have strawberries either so I threw in some diced watermelon. When making this I thought there wouldn't be enough salsa, so I threw in extra fruit, but this wasn't necessary at all. Try this, everyone will love it!

Asian Chicken Salad

OH MY GOODNESS!! This is one of the most delicious recipes I have ever made. I love chinese chicken salads, and this is just excellent. I made a couple of changes, I added 1 tsp. of ground ginger to the dressing, I think this adds a special sweetness. Also, I broiled my chicken for about 6 minutes after I let it sit in a yoshida's and hoisen sauce marinade for about 15 minutes. I also just used a bag of mixed cabbage that you use for cole slaw. It was delicious and oh-so healthy!! Thanks for the recipe!!*******UPDATE********I double the recipe to have some leftover and sub Peanut Oil for the sesame if I don't have it and just add it in the cup and use Olive oil to fill up to the 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup if doubling. ALSO what makes this recipe just like Nordstroms Cafe Chinese chicken salad is adding 2 Tablespoons of Tahini!!!!! DO IT!!! I also just bake the chicken plain, with foil on top to make it moist like Nordstroms :)

French Dip Sandwiches

I really enjoyed this recipe...I did brown the meat on a hot skillet, then used 1/4 cup regular soy sauce, and 1/4 cup low sodium. I think next time I will just use the regular soy sauce since I like my Au Jus nice and salty. I also cooked it on high in my slow cooker for 4 1/2 hours. I also cut baguettes and buttered and put them under the broiler to add some texture. I will definatly make this again.

Boiled Chicken

I just used this recipe for the Chicken Pot Pie IX on this site. Both turned out excellent. Though as I was making this, it smelled so great I thought I should have just made soup instead!!! Highly recommend this, the meat falls right off of the bones and is juicy and tender.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I am so glad that I decided to use this recipe among all of the choices. This was the first time that I have ever made Chicken Pot Pie and it turned out great! I used the boiled chicken recipe from this site since I had a whole chicken to work with. It peeled right off of the bones. The recipe is perfect, I love how the sauce does not fall to the bottom and make the crust soggy. The only thing was personal preference, I thought it needed a little more salt and pepper. Otherwise this is a great, filling dish.

Marinated Wild Salmon

This dish is so delicious!!! I love salmon, and this is one of the best recipes. I have to say it is great broiled, but it is simply wonderful on the grill. I marinated the whole fillet with the skin and put it on some foil and it was great.***Update***I used some leftovers to make salmon patties & it was out of this world! Simply mix with seasoned bread crumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, green peppers, spices & brown in the skillet. Excellent!

Honey Peanut Granola

Yum, I sub Almond slices for the Peanuts and use 1/2 Vanilla 1/2 Almond extracts for what the recipe calls for. Highly recommend this recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Hmmm...I have been making banana bread for years, and decided to try a new recipe. This was not as sweet as my usual banana bread, which surprisingly only calls for 1 cup of sugar for 2 loaves instead of 1 loaf like this recipe. Not sure if it was the brown sugar or not. Anyhow, I added 1 cup of walnuts, and ended up making a glaze to pour over the bread consisting of milk, confectioner’s sugar, and a dash of cinnamon to sweeten them up. Now they won’t need butter!
