About this Cook
I am a wife and mother of two little girls who loves to cook (when kids aren't demanding my attention). I grew up in Phoenix, AZ and currently live in Shizuoka, Japan. Hopefully I can learn more about Japanese food and infuse it with my every day cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook anything that tastes great but mainly American dishes with an occasional Mexican, Italian, and Asian dish. We took a Thai cooking class while traveling and enjoy making several dishes when we have the time to make them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are several dishes that have been passed down to me over the years that I love making (berox and strips of beef). If I get bold enough, I may even put them on allrecipes for everyone.
My cooking triumphs
I cooked a ham for the first time for Easter where 5 air force guys scarfed it all down.
My cooking tragedies
A spicy chicken dish from a Taste of Homes cook book left my husband and I in pain for an entire day. Won't make that mistake again.

simplylo's Oven-Baked Sesame Chicken
Excellent! I didn't have dry sherry so I just substituted white wine. I marinated the chicken for about 5 hours and breaded the chicken with the same recipe but since I didn't have wheat germ I used panko (I had it on hand and you can't get more Asian than that!) instead. It was delicious. I think I even cooked it too long and still came out juicy. Yum. Can't wait to make it again.

Watermelon and Strawberry Lemonade
I have a huge watermelon and felt like a watermelon drink would quench the thirst this hot summer day in Vegas. I reduced the sugar to half and used a little less water and it was perfect. I added a splash of vodka to mine and this will be my summer drink of choice now.

Banana Sour Cream Bread
I normally make Banana Nut and Ginger Bread but didn't have a dark beer on hand so I made this instead. I thought it had a great flavor and enjoyed the sugar dusting on the pan, but I'm still partial to the other recipe. I changed the temp to 350 and cooked for just over an hour.
