Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
This was delicious. The only change I made was I had to broil it indoors rather than on a grill but it turned out perfectly fine which is good to know since grilling isn't always a first choice if the weather is against you! It got two thumbs up from every single picky eater including one who won't generally touch a steak because of 'how boring, tough, chewy, dry...' or put in any other negative word often associated with poorly done steak here. So...yum!

Bratwurst and Shrimp Boil

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I've made this twice now but added double the beer both times and at least double the shrimp depending on how many people I was feeding, always with excellent results. You can tweak this recipe all over the place without hurting anything. Throw in more beer, more potatoes, more onion, whole garlic heads...crab, other shell fish...whatever. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Ham with Redeye Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I had never even heard of redeye gravy so when I saw this, I was intrigued. I feel as if I must have done something wrong because I didn't like the end result of this. I come from Seattle where we love all things coffee related and yet, this wasn't what I imagined it would be or COULD be. Maybe I just need to go try it from someone who knows what they are doing with it >.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I have mixed emotions about this recipe. Ok, I know you aren't supposed to eat things with raw eggs in them but this dough was absolutely delicious. I didn't like it quite as well once it was baked. To be fair, everyone else seemed to really like the cookies.

Famous Chicken Francaise

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I made this for a family home dinner. Everyone loves lemon and my husband even asked me to make it 'extra lemoney' It sounded as if there was already plenty of lemon so I didn't make adjust the lemon at all. I did add a bit of seasoning salt to the flour for breading the chicken. I doubled the lemon and chicken broth 'sauce' and after cooking, then thickened it with a bit of cornstarch in water. It made a lovely gravy that was absolutely delicious both on the chicken and on the side rice dish I made to go with it. A big hit!

Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I made the Streusel Coffee Cake for Christmas. At first, I was a bit worried because the batter was so thick but it turned out perfectly. Moist, sweet and rich...everyone enjoyed it.
