i'm of catholic and secular humanist jewish (cashew) heritage, so i grew up around an abundance of delicious foods. i have ibs, and am lactose intolerant, so am always looking for stables that will keep my belly happy. i'm an adventurous cook and have just learned how to make sushi.
My favorite things to cook
italian, japanese, CARBS, bacon, anything that can fit in a rice cooker, pies in all varieties, cookies and vegetarian dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
food, food and more food. we cook way too much for normal holiday functions. for this past christmas we had 2 trays of lasagne, 3 trays of eggplant parm, a roast turkey, a smoked ham, and about 15 lbs of mashed potatoes and various other vegetables. we had 12 guests. there were weeks of leftovers.
My cooking triumphs
my boyfriend and i have recently become dinner party mavens. we make delicious pie together. especially breakfast pie.
My cooking tragedies
i tried to make canned creamed corn less sweet as a child. it only ended in sadness.
