About this Cook
I am just finishing chemotherapy and am ready to begin my "new life." I can't wait to get back in the kitchen and start cooking again. I have two girls in college and have to learn to cook for two now (and maybe just a little bit healthier).
My favorite things to cook
Good old southern food, sweets, casseroles. I also like to make "Mom's Surprise" - throw things together to see if it works!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving - Mom, grandma and me baking all day. Our menu was pretty much always the same - turkey, cornbread dressing, greenbean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry salad, and all kinds of desserts but always German Chocolate Pie (for my husband).
My cooking triumphs
One Christmas my daughters and I made everyone cans of homemade candy. We were told that it looked and tasted like it came out of the candy store.
My cooking tragedies
If you put baking soda in cherry pie instead of baking powder - the pie turns green and smells really bad. Back in my younger days.....
