Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2006
I'm giving this recipie 5 stars with the modifications I made. I substituted 1/4 c. of the butter with shortening and also added 1 egg yolk. I also found that rolling them out just a bit thicker than 1/8'', baking them for 7 minutes and using parchment paper kept them from breaking apart. I ended up with cookies that were SO CHOCOLATEY WONDERFUL and tasted a lot like brownies. They were gorgeous with the "sugar cookie icing" recipie from this site.

Strawberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
This recipe was very easy and tasted great. I didn't have time to chill for the full recommended amount of time. It was only in the fridge for about 4 hrs. and it was a tad bit soft in the middle but everyone liked it that way and it really wasn't a big deal.

Molasses Peanut Butter Crinkles

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
I thought the flavor of the cookie was pretty good. But like another reviewer said - It only initially tastes of mary jane candy. The flavor after that is nothing great although not bad. The inside was nice and chewy but the whole cookie had a pretty thick hard outer shell that I didn't care for. Maybe that wouldn't happen if it wasn't rolled in sugar? I followed the recipe exactly. I was unsure about using the full amount of the dry mixture cause the dough got pretty crumbly and tough to mix but I did. I think if I make this recipe again I will use less dry ingredients and not roll in sugar before baking. I also wonder how this dough would work for cutouts? All in all this cookie isn't bad it's just not the fantastic cookie I was hoping for.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
These turned out beautiful and taste very good. The dough rolled out very easily after overnight refrideration. I did keep the dough a little thicker than 1/8'' and only baked for 7 mins. because I like these kinds of cookies very soft. I used the "Sugar Cookie Icing" recipe and ended up with some stunning cookies that were almost too pretty to eat.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
I'm giving 5 stars with the variations suggested by other reviewers. I used 1 heaping tbsp. of milk and 1 tbsp of corn syrup and the icing turned out beautiful. It was very easy to spread with a knife. To add extra embelishments I used a ziplock baggie as a piping bag and just snipped a small piece of the corner off. Edit: I tried this recipe again last night with the "Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies" recipe from this site and substituted the almond with pepermint extract - WONDERFUL!

Poor Man's Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2006
I had to try this because it reminded me of a sandwich that my grandfather eats all the time for breakfast which is... PB, mayo and raisens on ww toast. This was surprisingly good as is my grandpa's oldtime favorite. I think I'd like it better with no onion though.

Biscotti Toscani

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Great Recipe! All the flavors added are the perfect amount and blend so well together. I did use pecans in place of the almonds because I had some that needed used up. I also added dried cranberries and I love the texture and flavor they added. I did use the chocolate but I think I prefer them without it. You kind of miss out on all the other flavors going on because the chocolate tends to overpower them. This really was easy to make and filled the house with such a wonderful comforting smell.

Chewy Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
I followed the recipe (minus the nuts and conf. sugar) and thought these were great. I will add more cocoa powder next time and maybe a touch less sugar but otherwise they were perfect for me - very dense, moist and chewy. They even had a slight touch of that thin, sweet & crunchy top layer you get from boxed brownies. I used one bowl - mixing the dry ingredients with a wisk first, then adding all the wet and then mixing again. They were very quick and easy to make. Great if you're ever in need of a last minute dessert.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
I used this recipie as a base for chocolate zucchini bread and it turned out great. I used partial whole wheat flour, substuted 2 tbsp. of cocoa powder for the cinnamon, and added 1 c. of chocolate chips. I baked it in a bundt pan. My family loved it... even my picky younger cousins.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
These were very good. I beat the egg whites and folded them in like other reviewers suggested. They were nice and fluffy and a bit crispy but not super crispy. I will definitely make these again - maybe even tomorrow morning :D

Raised Yeast Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
These are excellent. Yes they take more time then recommended in my waffle iron but if you have the time they are worth it. Crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside and great flavor (I look forward to trying them with a bit of vanilla nest time). Just the kind of recipe I was looking for after trying so many that always turned out soft and got soggy with syrup.

Birthday Bones

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Update: I've made this recipe with a few modifications just to change it up a bit and my dog loves them. I've added some beef broth in place of part of the milk, shredded carrots and cheddar. Previous Review: You can't go wrong with these. I figured this recipe was so simple & easy I had to try it. They hardly took any time at all.

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
SO GOOD, so quick and easy! I make this all the time with all the low fat ingredients and it makes no difference in taste. My family and friends love it. Served with any type of cracker, bread or even veggies. I make a meal out of this on those days when you don't want a lot for dinner.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
This has become my favorite recipie for tilapa. It's so quick and easy to make. It's great for dinner parties and fairly healthy too. I've substuted yogert for the mayo and I can't believe it's not butter light for the real butter and it's good that way too.

Pineapple Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
I'm not sure how accurate my rating is considering I modified a bit (used partial whole wheat flour, left out the allspice and the glaze, and used almonds on the top instead of walnuts throughout). It didn't have enough pineapple flavor to it for me and wasn't as moist as other zucchini bread I've made. It wasn't bad though. Also, don't be scared if the eggs seem to scramble when you add the pineapple - it didn't seem to effect the end result.

Buffalo Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2006
I put a sauce made of lots of hot suace, butter, brown sugar, and fresh garlic on top of these for the last 8 min. of cooking and they turned out great. Everyone at the superbowl party loved them. For the extra healthy people I made a batch with I can't believe it's not butter light and they turned out good too.

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I really, really love these brownies. I bake them in a 7'' x 11'' pan for 30 minutes and press the marshmallos into the top of the batter. They get all toasted and it makes the brownies extra yummy!
