About this Cook
I'm married with 3 kids. I work part time, and I LOVE to cook and bake. Finding a new hit recipe is as exciting to me as Steelers football is to my husband!!! I learned how to cook around the age of twelve... Kind of out of necessity. My father worked nights, and that was when my mom entered the work force. I loved looking for new recipes to make. I still don't think my brother has forgiven me for being my guinea pig.
My favorite things to cook
We love chicken and seafood. Just finding stuff to throw together and seeing what we get!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm pretty proud of the fact that I have 3 children, (ages 7, 5 and 1), and they LOVE to try new things!! Thank goodness I don't have picky kids. I just don't know what I'd do if I had to eat chicken nuggets and french fries every night!!! They love fresh veggies, fruit and salads.
My cooking triumphs
My husband is a chef... for him to tell me how much he likes what I made for dinner, really means a lot to me. (That, or he's just happy he didn't have to cook it himself!! ;)
My cooking tragedies
I've been pretty lucky with cooking. Once I cooked angel hair pasta, I thought it was spaghetti, and it was one big, lumpy mess.

Baked Potato Salad II
PLEASE don't leave out the green olives!!! I felt leary about putting them in, but as my kids love them, I left them in. They really don't taste "olive-y"... they just kind of add a saltiness to the dish. Everyone I make this for raves... even the non-olive afficianados!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll
My family loves this recipe!! I think I already have about a dozen in my freezer!I line my pan with aluminum foil and a light pass with cooking spray. After baking, I let it sitin the pan for a few minutes on a cooling rack, then instead of sprinkling a towel and flipping the pan over, I sprinkle powdered sugar,(generously), onto the cake. Then I lay a towel onto the cake, then a cooling rack on top, and I flip the entire pan over. I peel the foil off and roll up the towel and cake, leaving on the rack to cool. By far the easiest way I've found to do it.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad
This salad is very good, but we have a few extra additions that we enjoy in our version: some slivered purple onions, a few pineapple tidbits, and a handful of crumbled feta cheese. Since this salad is also at it's best in the summer time, we also serve it with either grilled chicken or shrimp on top. Add some good garlic bread, and you've got an easy, delicious dinner!
