Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
I doubled this recipe and didn't use the optional cayenne. I wish I had used less salt, a little too salty. Otherwise, GREAT!

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
Followed the recipe to a T, well except that I used AP Flour. So I removed 4 T of flour from the 2 cups. I made cupcakes and they were so tender and delicious.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
Agree with others that the instructions aren't clear. I think what the author meant by cutting some up is just to vary the size of the berries. ALL the berries are supposed to go in the pot with the sugar and vanilla. I Doubled the recipe to serve with (10) chocolate croissants and had some left over. I did the corn starch to thicken as some others suggested. Worked out great as well. I don't have a blender so I used my food processor. That worked out great as well.

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
Very good! I used 3 lbs. of chicken which was pretty much 3 large breasts. As per other recommendations, I used 1/3 cup of lemon juice and two cups of water. I cooked for 4 hrs. on low and the chicken was excellent - not dry at all but the chicken did fall apart. I used the juices to make a sauce/gravy. I boiled it gently on the stove in a small sauce pan and added cornstarch to thicken the sauce. I arranged pieces of chicken on top of a mountain of angel hair pasta and served it with broccoli on the side.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
Excellent! I doubled it and it was perfect. I didn't change a thing- I used a jar of medium salsa from Trader Joe's and store brand low sodium fat free chicken broth. BETTER than the restaurants!

Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
These were a hit. One thing I will note for the next time I make these is to use a serrated knife to cut them. Also I am going to try using almond flavor instead of vanilla.

Russian Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
Excellent! I am Russian and this salad brings me back to my roots! I wanted it vegetarian so I skipped the hot dogs and didn't substitute. I also omitted two egg yolks. Left everything else the same and it was great!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
I've made a similar recipe before and recall that I was advised to use more sauce. So for this recipe, I did 6 fresh chicken breasts (big ones from Costco) and doubled the sauce. Kept everything else the same. I shredded the chicken and then put it back in the sauce. Delicious!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
I made these exactly per the recipe. The next time I make them, I will use less chocolate. I'm a purist and even though I love chocolate, I felt there was too much chocolate and it took away from tasting the toffee.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
Excellent! I love that it's so few ingredients and so simple! I took another posters advice and added a dollop of strawberry jam and tucked it into the middle. Made for a nice treat sans frosting

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
Excellent! I did as others suggested with the sugar: 1 1/2 cups white and 1 1/2 cups brown sugar. I used a 9x13 glass casserole pan and the thickness was perfect! This is going to be my go-to brownie recipe for sure.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Made this for Father's Day brunch and it was a hit! Used cinnamon raisin bread and didn't have vanilla. The vanilla would have been nice but we made do without it.
