Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
My chops were one inch thick, and the cooking time was perfect. The only changes I made were to up the garlic to six cloves and to lay the chops on a bed of vidalia onion rings in the baking dish. I used fresh mushrooms rather than canned, and also added just a bit of sage. Quite delicious!

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Excellent soup! I used five garlic cloves. Since I'm lactose intolerant, I substituted the half and half with broth, thickened with potato flakes. Topped each bowl with a little shredded Parmesan cheese and snipped chives. Definite winner!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
I've used a similar recipe from a 35 year old Betty Crocker cookbook. Instead of sweet Italian sausage, however, I use pork sausage with sage. Much better!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I prefer to make the brine by simmering about 30 minutes, adding orange peel, 1 cup orange juice, a bay leaf, 3 sprigs of thyme, 15 peppercorns and 1 cup brown sugar. Cool completely before adding to the turkey, and make sure the turkey is completely covered. Also, do not soak in an aluminum pot! Brine at least 12 hours. Also, if possible, use a fresh turkey. This is SOOOO worth it!

Denny's Amazing Five Minute Asiago Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
Used Miracle Whip instead of mayo; I really liked the extra tangy taste. Served for my Mom's 90th birthday party with various crackers. Everybody aged 3 to 90 loved it!

Tangy Mozzarella Bites

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
Followed the recipe exactly, but these were far from tangy; the cheese cubes just tasted oily even though I marinated overnight and added extra pepper and a little more vinagar. Maybe a different kind of cheese would be better?
