Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2013
These brownies are fudgy, dense, and very moist. They are a snap to make, made with simple ingredients most of us have on hand. The batter went together in about 5 minutes. I removed them from the oven at 25 minutes. I highly recommend this recipe, but warn you...make a double batch because they won't last long! Thanks for a fantastic quick treat!!

Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
I made this recipe with only the plums and used unsalted butter instead of margarine. It is delicious and a big hit with my husband. It baked in exactly the time designated in the recipe. For those not familiar with upside down cakes, it should be included that as soon as the cake comes out of the oven, put a plate on top of it, hold tightly with potholders and flip it. It came out of the pan like a dream. I used a regular 9" cake pan. I will definitely make this again with any of the fruits mentioned in these reviews. It is a simple, elegant and different dessert, especially served warm! Thank you :)

Asparagus Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
I have made this recipe for years! It is a family favorite. When I use the no-cook lasagna noodles, I make these changes: I make the cream sauce thinner by adding more milk. After assembled, I cover the pan with foil and bake in my conventional oven until the noodles are done. Then I uncover it and sprinkle the last of the cheese on top and return to the oven to melt and brown a little. The cooking time is longer than the microwave version, but then again; you save the time of boiling and dealing with the noodles. It is easier to assemble. Made either way, it's a wonderfully different lasagna. Enjoy!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
This recipe is the absolute best. My family all agrees it is better than my former favorite banana bread recipe. It is very moist and tasty. I used Crisco instead of the butter and light sour cream...so; had I used butter and regular sour cream, it would only have made it richer and better! Thanks so much; this is a fantastic classic :)

Scalloped Potatoes II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
This recipe is fantastic. I doubled it, made it the night before and just reheated it. The potatoes are done just right, with a smooth creamy sauce and lightly browned on top. I received many compliments and requests for the recipe....a definite keeper!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
This recipe is fantastic! I do not have a slow cooker so I just put everything in a large heavy saucepan and once it came to a boil, turned it down to simmer and let it cook for a few hours. Everyone in my family loves it. It was more like stew than soup and very, very tasty.

It IS easy! The whole family loved it. I added a bag of baby spinach and doubled the amount of mushrooms and served it with mini ravioli. Another keeper :)

Baked Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
This soup is so easy to make. I mashed 2/3 of the potatoes, added them to the soup, then left the rest in chunks. It is very thick...a perfect winter night dinner...very filling. Already a family favorite!
