About this Cook
I'm obsessed with food/cooking. I love everything about it esp. the pleasure it gives to others. My Italian background is the foundation for this passion. Some people eat to live...I live to eat. My mom is the best cook ever and her talent has been passed to her 6 daughters (okay one or two I have my doubts about)There are never enough keep 'em coming.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that doesn't have to be on the table in 20 min.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve: 7 fish supper. Difficult recipes, expensive ingredients, time-consuming, but worth it all!
My cooking triumphs
Getting a homemade breakfast on the table in which everything is hot.
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate truffles...they give me fits. Can't seem to "enrobe" them, and I won't buy some fancy gizmo to make them.

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans
Made this last night, though not on the grill. Used all the same ingredients and made in a large skillet on the stove. Once the sausage browned a bit and onions were clear, I added a bit of water along with the cut up potatoes. Covered the skillet and let the potatoes cook thru. Very good. A keeper. Oh, and I used have great flavor to the rest of the ingredients!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
3 and a half stars. Keep the chicken and the sauce...very good. Forget those dumplings. Just can't get used to that doughy texture and the sweetness of the canned biscuits. Will serve leftovers tonight...cut up remaining cooked chicken, add the leftover sauce, add cooked bacon, mashed potatoes, topped with breadcrumbs and cheddar cheese. Put in casserole and bake. I think this will be a more enjoyable meal.

Deb's Scallops Florentine
Very good and very rich. I didn't pre-boil the scallops, patted them dry and seasoned them with salt and garlic powder. Baked it a bit longer than 15 min. Omitted the bay seasoning and added fresh basil, parsley, chives and garlic powder for a more Italian flavor. 2 T of butter may be enough for the roux. All in all an enjoyable dish.
