Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2004
I thought this recipe was pretty good. One thing I would maybe do differently is sprinkle bacon on top after its done cooking, instead of adding it in the crockpot. Biscuits dipped in the soup were very good.

Chocolate Chip Pie I

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
Great recipe! I used pecans since I didnt have walnuts and only used 1/2 a cup. A whole cup would have been too much, for my tastes anyway. I could not get enough of this.

Savory Summer Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2004
Definitely a keeper! I used colby/monterey jack cheese and dried basil and it still came out great. I didnt have any problems with the crust getting too done. I'll be making this one again.

Best Hamburger Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2004
This was alright, but I didn't think it was all that great, certainly not best ever. I would definitely make some adjustments if I made it again, such as omitting the spices, they just didn't taste right.

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2004
I've made this recipe twice now. The first time I used thin pork cutlets and was blown away. The second time I made it I used thicker chops and for some reason just didn't like the dish as much as I remembered. I had trouble with the onions getting completely soft(may be the onion I used?) and the sour cream sauce seemed bland. I'm giving it 5 stars based on my first impression, but I do want to try it again with the thin cutlets and maybe saute the onions a bit before adding to the crockpot and add a bit more seasonings.

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I've made this dish numerous times now and its come to be one of my favorite comfort foods. Its great exactly as written, but I usually modify it. Instead of the soup I'll just substitute milk or half and half, and I often leave out the green onions unless I happen to have them on hand. I even forgot to add the cheese once and it was still great.

Grandmother's Old Fashioned Butter Roll

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I've made these rolls many times now, and I just love them. If you're looking for something like cinnamon rolls, these are not it, they have a flaky biscuit-like texture. I have another recipe very similar to this that calls for vegetable oil instead of shortening, which works very well if you don't want to take the time to cut in the shortening. These are good with or without the milk being poured on before baking. You can pour a little milk or cream on each individual serving after they've baked.

Lap Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2005
This is such a great salad, amazing how just a few simple ingredients can be so flavorful. For those on a tight budget like myself, its just as good without the chicken. Also, if you have rice wine vinegar, I'd recommend using that instead of regular white vinegar.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Reminds me exactly of my grandmother's mac&cheese!! It isn't supposed to be "creamy". Wonderful recipe :)

Onion Bread II

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2005
So easy to make and so good!! It smells awesome while its cooking too. The only thing I changed was I added several more tablespoons of onion than was called for. I will definitely make this again.

Applesauce Custard Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2005
I thought this was a great change from a regular apple or custard pie! So easy to make too. Like other reviewers, I also used 2/3 cup sugar and it was plenty sweet enough :)

Summer Pasta Toss II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2005
Nothing extraordinary, but this is a nice easy recipe that is also easy to make alterations to.I added some chopped onion and sliced olives. I also didn't have Parmesan, so I substituted a mozarella/asiago blend and it came out great :)

Sour Cream Biscuits

I have to say I didn't really like these very much. They rose perfectly and looked nice, but just didn't have much of any flavor.

Amish Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2005
I've made this recipe several times now, and I like the sweet flavor of it, though sometimes I decrease the sugar a bit. I don't like celery so I substitute about a teaspoon of celery salt, and I use green onions. This doesn't replace my standard potato salad recipe, but its great for a change of pace.

Aunt Johnnie's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2005
I've made this recipe several times and its the only pound cake recipe I use now. Its even better than my mom's! I always halve the recipe, using all-purpose flour instead of cake flour and bake it in a 9x5 loaf pan. It has always turned out beautifully for me. I recently made it with a 1/2 cup of blueberries thrown in and have also used peaches.

Upside Down Supper

This dish was alright, but I can't say that I'd make it again. The combination just wasn't quite right to me and it seemed a little on the dry side.

This was a really good and easy recipe. I added some chicken breast strips and it was very similar to a dish I had in a restaurant.
