Butter Bean Veggie Soup

I made a few changes based on what I had on hand.I omitted the celery and added a little celery salt instead, and used dried minced onion. I also added green beans and corn to make up for the veggies I didn't have, and I cooked it in the crockpot. Overall, this a good, easy to make recipe.

Milk Tart

I was worried when making the crust b/c it looked more like cookie dough, and I basically had to just spread it in the bottom of the pie plate, forget trying to pat it up the sides. After baking it, it looked like a big sugar cookie. But I plugged on with the recipe and made the custard part, then let it chill overnight. When I tried a slice this morning I was pleasantly surprised, it was really quite good! The crust was really thick and tasted like a sugar cookie and the custard was so smooth and creamy.

Pasta Rustica

This was okay, but wasn't really good enough to me to deserve five stars. I've tried other pasta recipes on this site that I like better, so even though this dish was alright, I probably won't be making it again.

Tortellini Pesto Salad

Vikki's Red Bean Sausage

Definitely worth 5 stars! I cut the recipe in half and made just a few changes. I used two teaspoons of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning in place of the spices listed and a can of Rotel tomatoes rather than using separate cans of tomatoes and chiles. I also stirred in approx. 2 cups of cooked brown rice. It smelled heavenly while simmering on the stove.

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

These wraps turned out really well, though I ended up with a LOT of extra filling. I made a few changes: I used fresh chopped tomatoes instead of canned, and added some salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder to taste to give it a bit more flavor. I'll be making these again, they're great to take to work.

Orange Gelatin Salad

I made some changes based on what I had in my cabinets so I used canned strawberries and strawberry/banana jello instead. I thought this was good but I think its just a bit too sweet for my taste to eat plain. I liked it spread on a bagel for breakfast.

Bob's Bean Salad

Awesome Bow Tie Pasta

I wish I could give this recipe more stars, but like other reviewers, the balsamic vinegar just overpowered everything for me. I added some basil and minced garlic, but even then it just tasted bland and too vingary.

Spaghetti With Marinara Sauce

I wasn't too sure about this sauce at first, but after letting it sit for a day or too I thought it was wonderful. The flavor was just perfect, and I liked the capers, which I've never had before. I also added the red pepper flakes and thought they gave the sauce a nice kick. The only changes I made were I cut the recipe in half and used just one can of diced tomatoes and one can of tomato sauce.

Spicy Pasta Salad

I loved this recipe and have made it several times. I prefer it with seashell pasta since all the ingredients get more blended together that way. I also used only about 1/2 the salad dressing called for and that's plenty.

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

The simplest recipes really are the best sometimes, and this one is no exception. I made it exactly as listed and thought it was excellent, especially the potatoes, they were tender and had a great flavor. Definitely a keeper!

Bierrocks II

I tried this recipe because I was looking for something different from what I normally cook and was happy with how well these turned out. I'll be putting this in my recipe box but next time I'll definitely decrease the amount of pepper, it was a bit too much for my taste. I also made my own bread dough rather than buying it.

Bread Pudding II

I just made this recipe this morning for breakfast and thought it was pretty good. I was surprised at how much it fell when I took it out of the oven, but since I have no prior experience at making bread pudding I don't know if that was supposed to happen or a mistake on my part. I didn't think it was a 5 star recipe, but I'll keep it around :)

Dill Dip III

I thought this was a really good dip, though my only complaint is it had a bit too much of a mayonnaise taste. Next time I'll use 3/4 part sour cream to 1/4 part mayo and I think that'll make it perfect for me. I also halved the recipe and it still made quite a lot.

Blueberry Crumble

What a great easy recipe! I remember my mom making this but she called it Dump Cake. I substituted cherry pie filling and used sliced almonds. I accidentally bought a 30oz can of pie filling, but I think it ended up being just the right amount.
