BBQ Potatoes with Green Onions

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
These potatoes were so good! Amazing how good just a few simple ingredients can be together. My husband loved them and is already talking about making them again.

Old Plantation Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2007
I've only made yeast rolls a few times, but this recipe definitely makes the best rolls I've ever had. This will be the recipe I use from now on.

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
These muffins were really good, sweet but not too sweet, and I like that they're so healthy. I would make them again.

Bran Flakes Muffins with Raisins

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2007
These muffins were really good. My husband loved them and didn't even know they were "healthy". I made a few changes: I used honey bunches of oats instead of raisin bran and applesauce instead of the shortening. They turned out very moist and sweet. They only took about 15 minutes to bake.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2007
Wow what a great recipe! Tasted just like Chinese takeout only better. I did make a few changes. First, I marinated the beef in soy sauce for a few hours, and then instead of just broccoli, I used a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I also left out the ginger since I didn't have any.

Hamburger Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2007
Really good recipe and very budget friendly! My husband even went back for seconds. The only change I made was to add 1 tsp chili powder and a pinch of garlic powder. I also used regular rice, not instant.

Spinach and Potato Frittata

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2007
This frittata was easy to make and really good. The changes I made were to substitute garlic powder for the crushed garlic and Italian cheese blend instead of the cheddar.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
I've never made tortillas before, but these were a breeze to make. The dough came together easily, and wasn't sticky at all for me. Thanks for a great recipe and for saving me a few dollars at the store!

My Grandmother's French Dressing

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
Wonderful recipe! The only changes I made were I used onion powder instead of grated onion and left out the blue cheese. It was so easy to make, I'll never buy this from the store again.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I thought this dressing was very good, and I followed the recipe exactly except for using only 1 tsp of salt. Now I can save a few dollars by making my own Italian dressing.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
My husband and I thought this dish was pretty good, and it was very easy to make, but we both thought there was too much bacon for our tastes. The recipe is a good concept, but I think if I were to make it again I would use ham instead and throw in some vegetables to lighten it up.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: May 14, 2007
Easy recipe to make and impossible to mess up. I left out the carrot layer and just stirred in a cup of mixed vegetables with the ground beef. I also used a sprinkling of onion salt in the potatoes instead of minced onion. You can easily substitute whatever vegetables you have on hand in this.

Gumbo Style Chicken Creole

Reviewed: May 13, 2007
Excellent dish! I took the advice of other reviewers and added a cup of chicken broth, without it the dish seemed too thick and oily. Also, instead of the hot sauce, I used a good dose of Creole seasoning, and I left out the mushrooms.

Cheese Lasagna

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
This was an easy recipe to make and my husband and I really enjoyed it. I used cottage cheese instead of ricotta and used about half the amount called for. I also didn't need an entire 16oz package of lasagna noodles. This will be my basic lasagna recipe from now on.

Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
My husband and I both really enjoyed this soup. I left out the celery and fresh carrots and just upped the amount of frozen vegetables. I threw everything into the crockpot and cooked it on low all day. It was the perfect consistency and very flavorful.

Quick and Easy Pancit

Reviewed: May 6, 2007
I've made this recipe several times and enjoyed it but never really cared for the texture of the rice noodles. Last night I tried using Ramen noodles (2 pkgs) instead, and it turned out great. So for those who don't like rice noodles or are having trouble with them, I think Ramen noodles are a good alternative.

Farmer's Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
I really enjoyed this recipe, and my husband even went back for seconds. Based on what I had on hand, I used 2% milk instead of evaporated and a blend of cheddar and mozzarella instead of pepperjack and used more cheese than the recipe calls for. I would really like to try it again with the pepperjack, though.

Easy Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2007
This guacamole tasted great! I don't like the crunch of onion in my guacamole so I substituted some onion powder. I also used 1 Tb of lemon juice instead of lime since that's what I had on hand.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2007
While this pound cake tasted good, it came out very flat and dense, even after baking it longer than the recipe calls for. I'll be sticking to my old tried and true pound cake recipe.

New England Dinner

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
This was a simple recipe to put together, but probably not one I would make again. I substituted chicken broth for the water, put all the ingredients in the baking dish and poured the broth over top. I also seasoned with salt and pepper. It wasn't really good or bad, just average.
