Erica's Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
I read the reviews and tweaked it. I only had a 1.5 lb boneless blade roast. Inserted sliced garlic into meat, seared for 2 minutes on each side only. Searing keeps the juices in the meat, so no need to overcook. Then salt, pepper. Put atop veggies in crockpot, same veggies as recipe, but added a turnip, and small red potatoes. Topped with Worscestershire all over meat (maybe 10-12 drops) mushroom soup, splash of red wine. Kept in crocktop for 7 hours on low, but could have stayed there for another 2 hours for even more tender meat. The sauce was amazing, great for dipping soft bread.

Dave's BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
It was a good recipe to use in a pinch, as all ingredients are usually easily accessible. It kept the meat tender. Next time I will add more fresh garlic and smoke flavour and maybe 1Tbsp whiskey! You won't go wrong with this recipe.

Homemade Shake and Bake Mixture

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
Better than store bought. They have made a new nonhydrogenated version in the grocery store. But I still prefer this recipe!

Melissa's Mussels

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
Sorry but this was just OK. It was missing flavour. Maybe a little red pepper or more garlic, believ it or not. The sauce was too thin for pasta. Oh well, at least it was edible.

Lemon Broccoli Fish

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
Great for kids. Even simpler is to cook the fish as suggested, but steam the broccoli separately. Put the fish and broccoli side by side on a dish, and then erizzle with the melted cheese sauce over all. Kids prefer it this way.

Quick Clam Spaghetti

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
This recipe is simple and great for those rushed meals. If I were to rate it for kids I'd give it 4 stars. But because it isn't outstanding, I've rated it as you see. It needs a litle more garlic, and maybe some crushed red peppers too, especially for adults.

Best Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
Wonderful recipe. Everytime I make apple pie I'm afraid that it won't be as great as this one is. I do add 1-2 T. of brown sugar if the apples are too tart. Also, this recipe is great for homemade aplesauce, minus the crust.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2005
I have my usual banana bread recipe that is good and basic and well, bread like. This recipe was superb. The extra bananas gave it a moist gooey center, but do not be misled. The flavour is outstanding. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 unbleached flour. Also all I needed was 6 bananas, not 8 as a previous reader indicated. This recipe is great for kids. It tastes rich yet it is healthy. Shhh-don't tell them!

Shrimp and Asparagus

Absolutely wonderful. And easy too. Made small changes: vermicelli or even multigrain spaghettini, double the garlic, half of the butter, 1 whole lemon and added red pepper flakes.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2005
I wanted to try this recipe for two reasons. I am not a fan of pork and the reviews here were so mixed that I was curious to find out for myself. Taking tips from others here, I used 1/2 the onion soup mix and poked holes into the meat with a fork both before cooking and then about 1 hour before it was done. Result? The most moist, flavourful meat ever! My husband is a pork fan and absolutely loved this melt in your mouth dish.
