Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
Easy to make and tastes great! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out fantastic! I divided the batch and added melted and cooled chocolate chips to half of it for a chocolate buttercream which was also great! This is my new 'go to' frosting recipe!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This is the best tasting banana bread ever! I made a few slight changes because of personal preference but I'm sure the original recipe is still wonderful. I added 1 tsp. vanilla, 3/4 tsp. cinnamin and sprinkled brown sugar on the top before baking for 65 minutes. Excellent!!!!!!!!!! This is a must try, you won't be disappointed!

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I have to agree with the other reviewer. The dough was more like a thick cake mix not at all a bread dough. I added tons of flour to the mix and it was still too wet and to top it off, now it was too big for my bread machine! I make homemade bread almost everyday but have never had a recipe quite as soupy as this one.

Kaese Spaetzle

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
Ok, lately I haven't been able to get my kids to eat anything I have been making for dinner but finally we have found a WINNER! This is really good. I lightened up on the onions so the kids would eat it but otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. I couldn't find my ricer (it doen't get used very often:)so I used a cheese grater and my Pampered Chef plunger measuring cup. I just held the measuring cup against the back side of the grater and pushed the batter thru as I slid the grater back and forth. Made perfect dumplings. I will definitely be making this again!

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
I'm sorry but these are nothing like the real thing. These are kind of cakey and way too fragile. Definitely needs more egg.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
Super easy to make and it turned out beautifully. I did replace the shortening with butter just out of personal preference. I can't stand the greasy feeling that shortening leaves in your mouth. Also, I used my food processer so do all of the mixing. It took me 4 minutes from start to finish. (Minus the fridge time.) Definitely recomend this one!

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
AWESOME!!!! Just as good as the ones from the resturants and it was easy to make. It took me, at most, 15 minutes from the time I printed this off the internet till the time we were putting the finished onion on the table. We will definitely be making this one again. Also, the sauce is so good.

Dobos Torte

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
I made this cake years ago for my Hungarian father-in-laws 75th birthday party. Let me tell you, you better have a lot of free time on your hands cause this one takes a while! But it is worth it. My father-in-law said it was just like he remembered. The only caution I would give is to be careful with the cooked sugar layer. I made mine too thick and it was impossible to cut thru. We had to kind of hit it with the knife to break it. Next time I'd try to make a fine sugar straw instead.

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
EASY! I made this with homemade hash browns. I grated 2 big potatoes then rinsed them of their starch and squeezed all the excess water out. I made my recipe in a glass 8x8 pan. I used 4 eggs rather than 2 and baked both the crust layer and the egg layer about 5 minutes longer than the recipe calls for. This turned out excellent! This one is going in my recipe box!

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
This recipe is AWESOME!!! I made a half batch cause I didn't want waste all that popcorn if it didn't turn out but now I wish I doubled it! I made it exactly to the recipe with air popped popcorn and wouldn't change a thing. I'm going to make more for my daughters school picnic! What a hit with the kids!

Special Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
Sorry but these weren't that great. I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out dry and tasteless. My kids liked them, but they would eat anything with icing on it!

My daughter has a severe egg allergy and almost all pumpkin pie recipes have eggs. This pie is a great option that the whole family will enjoy.

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2004
My daughter is allergic to eggs so we made this recipe with out eggs and used ener-g egg replacer instead. For people with egg allergies this recipe is GREAT. (It actually tastes like real pancakes!) I increased the oil and milk slightly and used three teaspoons of egg replacer mixed in 2 Tbsp. hot water.
