About this Cook
I love to cook. I am a single mom of two wonderful kids so often times time is of the essence! I love to take a recipe and tweek it to make it my own. I hope to be able to pass on my passion of cooking by teaching my kids how much fun it is to cook!
My favorite things to cook
My cooking philosophy is a little of this a little of that; which tends to get interesting when someone asks me for a recipe for something I've created. I feel as though cooking should be somewhat off of instinct. and trial and error. I Love to make Chocolate chip cookies. And I love to try to duplicate dishes I've had elsewhere with my own twist.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making Christmas cookies just before Thanksgiving with my mother, sisters and our children. It's great to get us all in the kitchen together and then have cookie decorating contests.
My cooking triumphs
Whoopie pies! Making a tortiere(french meat pie) that can stand up to my memeres! Putting my own personal spin on recipes I find to make them more of mine.
My cooking tragedies
When I was in elementary school I was trying to make an old-world cookie and I accidently put one cup of salt instead of one teaspoon. Needless to say the cookies were very interesting.

Bolognese Stuffed Bell Peppers
This was delicious! It was my first time making a traditional stuffed pepper and I made some tweeks to fit my style of cooking! I used 1 cup of instant brown rice, one small onion and two large cloves of garlic chopped instead of the carrots and celery, a full pound of ground beef seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin and a few sprinkles of italian seasoning! When I added the marinara, red wine(chianti was delicious in the dish), and crushed red pepper I aslo added a can of rotel that I had drained. I boiled the peppers for about 5-7 minutes to help the cooking process along. I stuffed the peppers sprinkled them with some parmesan put in the oven for 15-20 minutes then I topped them with a generous helping of shredded mozzarella and let that get melted and just a little toasty! About 10 minutes! Served it with a fresh salad on the side! And my boyfriend was very happy to have left over stuffing and a left over pepper too! We'll definetly be making thins again! It's our new favorite dish!!!
