This is an excellent medley of flavors. I modified the recipe little. First, I doubled the garlic to 2 cloves. I supplanted bacon for ham and I cooked the bacon and crumbled and set aside. I added a few pads of butter to the bacon grease and then I cooked onion and garlic first (2-3 mins) until I could smell the garlic. Then I added the green beans, bacon, and spices (I added a tsp of dried basil because it is delicious with green beans). After the beans were a little soft (1 min) I added 1/4 C of chicken stock, covered, and simmered or 15 mins covered. It was PERFECT!
