Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
This was great. I have made it twice. 1) Followed recipe to a T, pretty good. 2) Improvised & customised: I had a spare packet of taco sauce & taco seasoning from a taco kit, so I used the taco sauce in place of tomato sauce and half a packet of taco seasoning in place of cumin. I also added red & green bell peppers, corn, a rasher of bacon minced and 1/2 lime juiced. Needless to say I got RAVE reviews! My friends said it was restaurant quality, I aim to please :)

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
I was trying to find a recipe for a cinnamon & apple side dish, to no avail. Fortunately I came upon this recipe! I used the pie filling as a base as instructed, yet added cinnmamon and a touch of nutmeg. I then added the mix to 8 royal gala apples, chopped, and baked at 400 degrees for 1 hour (mixing every 20min). It came out wonderfully, i can't wait to make the pie!!!

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
What a great idea. I won't make scrambled eggs any other way! This recipe is so convenient, you can adjust the serving size (I usually make enough for 3...) without fuss and add any extras that you prefer. Pop these babies in the oven and prepare the rest of breakfast! Its so simple.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2006
Fantastic recipe! Quick and easy preparation. Its also a fun recipe to alter. I added Mexican chilli powder, and garlic, 1 can of corn, heaps of fresh cracked black pepper, and a mix of mozarrela and chedder cheese. Like other reviewers, rather then use tomato soup I used my favorite spagetti sauce. The end result was awesome, thanks for the recipe!

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 1, 2006
An avian delight!! Simple and delish! This is my first roast - EVER! I completely loved it and so did my boyfriend and flatmate. I added garlic to my bird as I do with most things. I'll be whipping up this one again... thanks!

Gnocchi Bake

Reviewed: May 1, 2006
Good recipe. The thing I like most about it is the fact that its so simple, and easy to manipulate. Originally, I used all recommended ingredients. I am excited to try it with different sausages, chicken, ground beef, and/or veggies (like peas or spinach).

Slow Cooker Lancaster County Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2006
This recipe is pretty good! The pork was moist and it pulled apart nicely. Like others I added 2 chopped granny smith apples (no sugar). I also added 1 12 oz can of coke. Next time I won't add salt to the meat as it was a tad too salty for my taste.

Beef and Rice Dish

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
I found this recipe to be pretty good! It was tasty and easy to prepare. It definitely needs to be wrapped in your favorite taco/burrito shells though and add a touch of cheese (mont. jack, colby, or cheddar). Next time I'll use some salsa, lettuce, tomato and sour cream as well as other taco condiments!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
Yum, this dish was delish! Very tasty and filling. I did change just one thing: I omitted the manicotti pasta for large lasagna slices, which I soaked in cool water for 1 hr. I placed the spinach, cheese, and beef mix in the centre of the pasta, wrapped like a cannelloni and baked according to recipe. Like i said delish, and very easy! My roomate and boyfriend both said it was better then going to a restaurant!

Blackberry and Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2005
I made this pie as well as the "Pilgrim Pumpkin Pie" from this website for Turkey Day. It was a delicious pie. All of the guests at dinner raved about how good it was. A few guests mentioned I could even sell my pies! I used my own crust recipe and latticed the top for presentation. I added 3 cups blueberries and 2.5 cups blackberries. I also added an extra Tbsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. YUM!! Thank you.

Pilgrim Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
One word: DELICIOUS. I prepared my own pumpkin puree, by boiling the pumpkin - big mistake as the puree was quite soupy. Never-the-less, I added 5 Tbsp cornstarch and simmered for over an hour being careful not to scortch. I added only about 6 oz of evaporated milk to the mix and added a 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and allspice. I also increased the bake time by 13 minutes and HOORAY i got a solid beautiful, delicious pie! Next time though I may reduce the honey and some spices by a pinch as it was quite pungent. Also, I used butter in place of shortening for the crust and it came out well; watch the amount of salt though.

Kraft's Burritos Grande

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
Yum yum! These were excellent! I'd have given 5 stars but all the cheese and sour cream was a bit too much. Nevertheless, I'll have it again - perhaps mixed with rice or made with chicken!

Best Hamburger Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
A very good recipe. These hamburgers aren't your average burger b/c they're jam packed. They remind me of a meatball (switch the cheese to parmesan - there you have it!) I don't care for onion soup mix so I left it out. Will have again!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
This was one of the first recipes I made from this website and I still make it all the time! I was surprised to find how easy and quick this recipe is. It doesn't come out looking too pretty but it sure is satisfying served along with some garlic mashed potatoes. I use real marsala wine and sherry from the bottle shop, fresh mushrooms and I add fresh garlic and minced spanish onion for an extra kick.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
My boyfriend and I LOVE this recipe! I like a lot of flavor so I doubled the spices. I use plain diced tomatoes and add 3-4 cloves of fresh minced garlic and onion. I've made this a couple of times now - thanks for the wonderful recipe! p.s. I cooked chopped chicken (2 half breasts)in the skillet then added it to the sauce.

The Best Thai Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
I have NEVER experienced Thai foods ever. But took it upon myself to make it at home. This recipe was super easy and I followed the Ingredients/directions perfectly. Next time I may reduce the peanut butter by a 1/4 cup or so. I stirfried it into some pad thai noodles, steamed carrots, and broccoli and served it as a side dish to allrecipes "Chicken Satay".
