Eggplant Caviar

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
I must have done something wrong when I cooked this. It was not very tasteful even though it was edible. I am not rating how it looks because there is nothing u can do about how mashed eggplant looks. Will try one more time, maybe.

Refreshing Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
This was light and refreshing. Being runny was the only issue I had, but we used a slotted spoon to take care of that problem. I am going to use the recommendation of Jillian, to marinate in vinegar for an hour, then toss vinegar so that the salad is not so runny. Great salad overall, runny or not, thank you.

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
Absolutely delicious. I did mix the white sugar with the oats so that it would fit in the jar. I did not have a wide mouth, just reg. size. Thanks so much for the recipe the family loved it and the cookies only lasted in the house for 2 days.

Shrimp Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
After reading reviews I decided to make this recipe. We all liked it. I would have liked to give it 4 1/2 stars but that is not an option. My husband was a little weirded out by the mayo and sherry mix, but in the end liked it. I did make some changes: more shrimp and garlic. Next time I will add more salt, it seemed bland.

Pear Pie III

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
Fantastic. Even my picky eater enjoyed it. After reading changes I made my own. 4 ripe Pears quartered, 1/3 cup butter, 1/3 cup flour, 1 tbs. cinnamon, 3 eggs. The custard filled the pie crust and after @ 45 min. made a beautiful golden brown topping with a moist center. Not one crumb left. Thank you for the recipe and thanks to all who left comments about what changes they made.

Scott Ure's Clams And Garlic

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
Simple yet sooooo delicious. Made this for a late night snack for the guys while they were outside smoking cigars. I won't have to buy the next bags, the guys are all going to be taking turns bringing me bags as long as I promise to use this recipe. I didn't really follow your amounts since I made a larger amount, but I don't think it matters. Your ingredients and cooking instructions were perfect for "fool proof" clams. So simple anyone can make it. Thanks Scott--really loving the clams. :)

Lettuce with Hot Bacon Dressing

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
I made enough to serve 16 and only had a few forkfuls of salad leftover at the end. It was a HUGE HIT. Even the picky eaters enjoyed this (I was yelled at for throwing out the leftovers) I did make some changes to this recipe. First I used thick cut bacon. Then it says to reserve bacon grease, I felt that there was too much so I only saved some and added more vinegar than was called for, for flavor. I also added lightly toasted pecans. I used three bags of different mixed lettuces. Amazing!! Next time I will try to add some cheese and croutons. A definite MAKE AGAIN.

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
I have been cooking cabbage like this for at least 5 years when I got it from a Southern friend of mine. We have it almost every holiday. I just don't add the sugar, never found it necessary. The cabbage carmelizes itself the longer you cook it. I always cook extra bacon because my husband and kids steal it as they walk through the kitchen.

Depression Era Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
My family loves this corn chowder. I do make a few changes though. I decrease the amount of chicken broth and add a can of creamed corn as well. This thickens the soup a little more. This is great when you need to extend your meal for unexpected quests. It increases very easily.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
This is the perfect dessert to make when you are in a pinch for time, ideas and grocery items in your pantry. I've also made it with different fruits. My husband, who is not a sweets eater, loves this "cake". When we go visiting he begs me to bring it. I always receive raves. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN MAKING THIS CAKE. It always comes out great!!

Broccoli and Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2000
I used a half cup of vinegar instead of the two teaspoons. It really brings out the flavor of the raisins. My guests really loved it.

Cola Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2000
I made this recipe for mother's day. We had 10 guests. Everyone raved about how tender the pork chops were and then were astonished to see how easy the recipe was. I then sent this recipe to my sister-in-law who has two picky eaters (not including her husband). They also loved it. This is definitely a favorite of mine.
