Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Absolutely a great recipe! I did use butter instead of shortening and added a tad more cream, but really, you need look no further for a buttercream recipe!

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I served these as a Thanksgiving dessert this year, and everyone loved them. I took the advice of others and used a can of whole cranberry sauce instead of making my own. It probably could have gone a few minutes longer in the oven, but it was hard to judge if they were done or not because of the filling.

Durbin Hotel Sugar Cream Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
I'm going to go ahead and give this pie an extra star for subtlety. I did all my cooking over medium heat - no double boiler. I might have let it go a little too long because it was pretty custard-y before I even put it in the oven and it never really boiled or simmered. My fiance and I hemmed and hawed over it, but in the end decided it was pretty tasty.

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This was my first foray into candy making, and it was quite a success! I boiled as directed and it turned out great. A nice change from the usual fudge.

Pumpkin Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
I made these for a baby shower and everyone really liked them. (I doubled the recipe and left out the nuts for personal preference.) I did have some trouble with the marbling effect because my batters sat for a while before I put them in the pan and they got pretty stiff. I baked it for about an hour since I doubled it. Thanks for the recipe!

I can't believe I forgot to rate this recipe! I made them for my fiance and his sister and we all liked them a lot. Will definitely make again!

Sara's Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
I followed the basic recipe, but added the sugar and vanilla directly to the hot coffee as suggested by others. I mixed my cooled coffee with Mudslide creamer - yum!

Baked Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
This recipe gets five stars for ease and simplicity, and 4.5 for taste. Next time I think I'll do as others suggested and let the chicken "marinade" in the pesto for a while before it goes in the oven. We skipped the tomatoes for personal preference and served the chicken with spaghetti with olive oil and parmesean and a salad.

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
I cannot begin to describe the awesomeness of these brownies. My only comment would be that I don't think I'd call them a "brownie." More of a cookie bar. Make this dessert - your friends, family and co-workers will thank you!

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
I have made this recipe twice, and it turned out great both times. The first time I followed the recipe but used rum instead of brandy (because I had it on hand). I also added a pear to the fruit mix and left out the sugar. Turned out great! The second time my fiance added the whole can of lemonade concentrate instead of 1/3 a cup so we didn't add any ginger ale or carbonated water and it was still good! It got great reviews from all who tried it.

Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
Oh man, I can't wait to eat this for lunch tomorrow! I haven't actually taken a bite of the chicken yet, but the sauce sure is yummy. I doubled the cream and mustard and used a little more than a teaspoon of dried tarragon. I also added some onion powder to my chicken breasts before cooking and a teaspoon of minced garlic to the sauce. My fiance is going to be jealous!

True Blue Custard Crunch Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
I took this to a 4th of July party and people raved about it. I followed the directions exactly except for the baking - mine took probably 15 min longer (10 longer for the first bake and then 5 longer for the topping). The only thing I'd do differently next time is make 2 pies!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Such a fun cupcake! Mine came out deliciously, in spite of two slight issues. First, I made up my 24 dough balls using ALL of the dough made in the recipe, and thought the balls seemed kind of large but continued on. Then, I filled my cupcakes slightly too full (since the balls were big) so I didn't have a full 24, but even will the filled-ness, the cookie dough wasn't completely covered. Solved that problem by covering the "dips" with icing and topping each with a mini chocolate chip cookie. I used a Devil's Food cake mix and Special Buttercream Frosting. I froze the dough for 24 hours and since they were on the larger side, I baked them for 19 minutes and they came out perfectly. Can't wait to show people tomorrow!

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
These are delicious! I made according to the directions, but my oven must not be hot enough, because even at 375 I baked them for 13 minutes. I used a small cookie scoop. Thanks for the recipe!

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
This sauce was sweet and tangy. I didn't use the Chinese five spice but substituted cayenne pepper and ground ginger. It was still very enjoyable and I plan to put it on the menu in the future. My recommendation is to double the sauce and add some vegetables. I like broccoli but my fiance prefers snow peas.

Coffee Liqueur Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
I made this recipe with 1 1/2 packages of hot dog buns (12 buns) and it came out well! I reduced the Kahlua to approx 2/3 a cup, but could hardly taste it in the finished product, so next time I'll use the full cup. My only complaint is that the pudding puffed a LOT while cooking and then fell quite a bit. Not sure if that's because I didn't use a water bath (I baked it at 350 for 80 minutes) or if others had this problem as well. Didn't affect the taste though - this was yummy!!

Chicken Alfredo Pizza

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
Yummy! I did cheat and used the Pillsbury rolled pizza crust in the refrigerator section instead of making dough, and I prebaked it for 8 minutes before adding the toppings. Made the garlic butter in the microwave so I'd have one less thing going on the stove. Cut up the raw chicken breasts, added the seasonings and cooked in a skillet. Mixed the cheese sauce and chicken before putting on the crust and baked for an additional 8 minutes. The only thing I'd do differently next time is add some veggies - I was thinking red peppers for color!

Romanian Apple Cake

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
My fiance and I really liked this cake. It's nice and moist, and really easy to prepare! I used Golden Delicious apples and left out the walnuts for personal preference. I think next time I might add a little nutmeg for a tad more spice.

Pork Tenderloin with Herb Sauce

Reviewed: May 14, 2010
This recipe got five stars from my fiance and I, even though I forgot to leave time to marinate it! Instead, because I don't have a grill, I made up the sauce (using red wine vinegar and olive oil instead of butter) and poured it over the pork loins in a large loaf pan. This way the meat was pretty much covered by the sauce. I baked it at 370 for about 45 minutes and it came out great! Served with brown rice and veggies.

Campbell's® Slow Cooker Hearty Beef and Bean Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
The name of this recipe describes it perfectly - definitely hearty, beefy and beany! If you like your chili this way, you'll like this recipe. I did add a bit of cayenne pepper to it to kick up the spice a little bit. Served with salad and Sweet Corn Bread (from this site).
