Penne with Chicken and Pesto

quite nice - I used twice as much pesto as the recipe called for but my family still felt it lacked punch. If I make it again I will add diced salami or some other spicy meat.

Choco Shortbreads

Nice buttery shortbread. As mine were for Christmas I added lots of chopped macadamia nuts to the mix and made gingerbread shapes using a cutter, with chocolate piped on for contrast and detail. I quadrupled the recipe and googled for the gram equivalent of 40 TB because the thought of doing that part was a bit daunting! lovely recipe very much like the one I had misplaced.

Quinoa Tabbouleh

mmm mmm mmm! love it. I used white, black and red quinoa in my salad. I halved the oil and added a little garlic and a small amount of fine black pepper as I felt it needed a little something extra, but other than that it's a lovely salad. The quinoa gives it a beautiful texture that you just don't get from bulghur wheat. I think I will always make the quinoa version in future.

Easy Pavlova

Everyone loved this dessert, even though I managed to make a flop of it - not the recipe's fault but I think it might have been the vanilla bean paste I added as an extra. I ended up cutting around a plate to make my pancake pav into a nice round shape, and then I piled on the offcuts and creamed it.. it was a lovely impressive looking thing once I was done :o) 5 stars for great flavour.

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

Absolute deliciousness! very creamy and unctuous. I'm in New Zealand so had to google a few times to find a product equivalent. In the end I chose to process a block of chocolate into chips in my processor but I ended up with a layer of chocolate on the bottom (which everyone actually loved!) next time I will melt the chocolate before adding to the mix.. just to suit the way I converted the recipe. This one is a keeper and I will be making it again and again!

Naan

I would give this 10 stars if I could. Following the exact recipe I quadrupled the amount and made sooooooo many thatI spent an hour and a half cooking them one by one in my frying pan (great results, they bubbled up to absolute perfection) - I got many compliments from people saying they were better than the ones you buy at indian restaurants! I can even say they caused tears when my friend neglected to put one on her small daughter's plate!! my one deviation was to add some of the sugar to my yeast to help it start working. I proofed my dough in my oven, on the defrost setting, which is as warm as a hot summer day so the dough was ready in no time at all!

Carrot Cake III

lovely cake - I made it using some of the reviewers suggestions - I used 1 1/2 cups brown sugar - no white and added a well drained and squeezed tin of crushed pineapple, I also used much less oil. The result is gorgeous - very moist, plenty of sweetness despite halving the sugar, and I cannot wait to share the result with my friends tonight - thank you :o)[edit]my friends absolutely adored this cake - all that was left to offer my 3 hungry children was a small wedge. You couldn't find a nicer carrot cake recipe anywhere

Curry Pumpkin Soup

Gorgeous soup. I wasn't sure what 1/2 and 1/2 cream was so I used a tin of reduced cream, apart from that I followed the recipe exactly using freshly roasted pumpkin, sautéed onions and well browned diced bacon. Beautiful soup with a pleasant heat.

Bermuda Fish Chowder

Lovely - we made exactly as recipe said, except we had no jalapeno chilli, so for added heat I added a few good shakes of piri piri seasoning. a very satisfying dish - what I would call 'soul food'

Streusel Topped Blueberry Muffins

I have never made a successful batch of muffins in my life.. I have always resorted to shop bought muffin mix. Well today, with no time to go to the supermarket, I needed a recipe to make smoko for some workers and these turned out brilliantly.. I didnt change a single thing in the recipe and they turned out like shop bought ones.

Jelly Bean Nests

I made these with my daughter to take to shared lunch at school. Instead of jelly beans we used Cadburys mini speckled eggs to give them an Easter look. Fun and easy to make and look super.

Seafood Chowder

a very tasty recipe, my husband and I really enjoyed this, its not too rich but is still sweet and delicious. We made a basic fish stock and used it in place of the plain water and added fish, shrimps and a small tin of smoked oysters. We used Terekihi in place of the other fish because my husband went fishing on Sunday and thats what he bought home.

Flatlander Chili

This is the first Chili I've ever made and it far exceeds my expectations. I'm not sure its exactly right because some of the ingrediants listed have a different definition here (New Zealand) but I think I got it pretty spot on, very very nice and I will be making it often this winter.
