Hope you're having a wonderful day.  We are laboring on this day to honor labor...what better way? LOL  DH just went to mow one of the yards he maintains...we will probably mow three more this afternoon.  In the meantime...it's cleaning the little grandsons' room, washing… MORE

About this Cook
I'm a grandmother to five wonderful little boys...they call me Nanoo. I work part time out of my home and I get to keep my grandsons while their mothers work. I love to cook and have recently started sewing and machine embroidery. I have a degree in horticulture and someday when the grandsons are in school, I'm going to have a nice garden again. *smile* Here's the updated version of about me. Parker(newest grandson) surprised all of us and was born on Deaton's (his brother) birthday, July 13. He was scheduled to be born on July 28th by c-section, guess he doesn't read schedules too well. I will be keeping him when school starts...his mom is a teacher. My oldest grandson is Jacob, 8 and then his brother Drew, 7. Deaton, 5 is next and he is named my maiden name...cool huh? Daniel is 2 and the son of my youngest daughter, Jessica and then we have Parker. We do have a garden this year and the grandsons that live with me are enjoying squash, eggplant, peppers and of course tomato.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts that my family loves and trying new Mexican food dishes. I love to cook really, but the problem comes when I have to cook every night and day...(poor me..*smile*)
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always celebrate birthdays with the favorite meal of the birthday person. It's an anything goes. We've had pizza with mashed potatoes on the side and chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The little boys can pick out whatever they want. The adults do too, but we usually get some more "sophisticated" meals. LOL
My cooking triumphs
I made cakes for my son and daughter-in-laws birthdays that were exactly like cakes from their favorite restuarants. They were a success....
My cooking tragedies
I think there are too many to list...hehehe.

Perfect Sesame Chicken
This was wonderful. My daughter fixed this last night because her youngest son is having surgery this morning and this is his favorite. She took the suggestions of others and decreased the amount of sugar to 1/3 cup. Other than that she followed recipe exactly. This received thumbs up from grandson...and my DH (quite an accomplishment). This has become a new favorite. Thanks so much Doreen..

Speedy Spaghetti
My family loved this...only change was I used ground turkey instead of beef. We're trying to eat lighter this year. Wow very good.

Asian Lettuce Wraps
The only change made was ground lean turkey instead of beef...we're trying to lighten things up around here. My daughter and I loved it and will make again and let grandson and DH give it a try.
