Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Excellent fluffy pancakes! I was skeptical of this recipe because the batter came out so thick, but it was perfect. I don't understand the teaspoon of salt and the tablespoon of sugar. Why do people do this? You're going to put syrup on pancakes so what's the point of a tablespoon of sugar? And the salt... 1/2 teaspoon of salt in all that batter, why? You will never taste that and it has no effect on texture. I left them both out and they were perfect, Also, whats the point of the extra 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder? Why not just 3 so i don't have to find and dirty another measuring spoon? I used 3 teaspoons and they were perfectly fluffy. Still giving it 5 stars because, though these ingredients aren't needed, they won't affect the recipe any if you leave them in.

Oven Baked Zucchini Fries

Very good! I'm not sure what the difference between frying something and baking it dredged in butter, but whatever... It was delicious. I doubled the recipe and found that the melted butter wasn't quite enough to coat all of the fries. I added a few tablespoons of olive oil and that seemed to work out well. Also, Based on another review, I broiled on high for about 7 minutes after baking to make them crispier. It worked out well and my picky, vegetable hating kids gobbled them up!

Venison Stew I

This recipe was right on for us! I used stock that I made from leftover chicken, the venison trimmings and two mashed tomatoes instead of the water and cut out the flour entirely. I also only used two potatoes and added yellow squash and zucchini from the garden in place of the rest. Also tripled the garlic and Worcestershire. Everything came out perfect. Perfect consistency, perfect juicy meat, right salt balance, perfect. As for everyone complaining about "gamey" flavor... It's venison. It's game. Learn to love it or go back to beef. Don't eat a potato and complain that you can't get it to taste like an apple. Personally, I think that flavor is the beauty and character of venison.
