About this Cook
I am a self taught cook that learned by trial and error and watching the Food Network constantly(love that channel).I am a busy stay at home Mom of 3 and I love to cook for my family. While I can't usaully make up my own recipes, I do have a knack for picking out good recipes and changing them up to make them better or to suit my taste.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook things from my childhood that I loved. Like, oven baked brisket, pot roast,my Grandmas stove top roast chicken, lace cookies & sticky chocolate frosting to name a few. Whenver I make things from my childhood it brings back warm memories of different family members who I associate a recipe with.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our cooking traditions are always holiday based..Christmas morning breakfast:Gorilla bread that the kids help make, German pancake with homemade syrup and turkey bacon..Christmas cookies:Rainbow,Lace etc..The kids know to expect heart shaped ravioli and strawberry spinach salad on Valnetines Day and Corned beef & cabbage on St. Patricks day.I make sure to do something special for every holiday. They look forward to these things and I hope they will remember it and continue it with their own families one day.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that makes my kids say: Mom, you are the best cooker in the world! And everyone loves my apple pie!
My cooking tragedies
I have had them but nothing stands out as being a tragedy. Unless if you count the time we left the plastic bag inside the turkey and cooked it. I kept telling my husband something doesn't smell right. We had to throw out the turkey and eat cereal for dinner. At least we weren't haveing company and technically it was my husbands fault because he cleaned the turkey and kept saying there was no bag inside!!

Slow Cooker London Broil
Excellent! Tastes great and couldn't be easier. I used a rump roast which I browned first, I think it adds flavor, then doubled the canned soups for extra gravy (not the dry soup) and also added worchteshire, white wine and garlic powder. Last 3 hours of cooking added baby carrots. Served with spaetzle. My family loved it.
