Aloo Matar

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2005
Supprized - I really don't like curry and I dreaded the idea of having a dish with no meat; but for something that I found via searching for the only ingrediants I had at hand the other day it turned out to be a big hit! I added more peas and used diced tomatoes and a bit of tomato paste to thiken it up. I overcooked the potatoes when I boiled them first (on purpose as was in a hurry)so the sause ended up having a really nice thick texture to it. Was a wonderful last minute meal.

Chi Tan T'ang (Egg Drop Soup)

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2005
uugs! too salty! Better to go for a simple hot and sour soup if you want to have the egg drop texture.

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2005
Wow does this ever look gross... and I have the tomato paste to thank for that. If you can get beyond the look and put it on french bread with melted cheese on top it is wonderful. I left out a number of things: Parmesean and red wine for example; but I doubt that those things would AID in how awful it looks. This is not something I would ever serve on pasta but as an appetizer hidden beneath cheese it is yummy.

Oriental Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2005
Not amazing, just pretty good. Made double and it went mighty fast with 7 people eating. Put in red chili flakes but not enough to give it more than a little flavour and left out the oyster sauce as I discovered I didn't have any in the kitchen. Better than just steaming them by far.

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2005
Really liked this recipe; tho I can't give it 5 as it wasn't amazing. If you haev really picky vegetarians in your family this is a good meal to make once in a while to keep them happy, but if they also hate parmesan and spinach and you end up taking those two elements out it is quite bland. the cheese diminishes the heathy aspect of the meal and lacks pazazz. over all it is good, but probably requires fiddling with, and I just don't have time to do that.

Tom Ka Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup)

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2005
AMAZING! I have made this soup nearly half a dozen times since I found it and have added shrip, garlic prawns and sliced mushrooms to it and everytime it dissapears withing a couple days. This is a very hard recipe to mess up and is great the day after. It looks nothing like the picture shown (much more yellow) and cilantro should not be added to the soup until it is in your bowl as it turns brown and slimy if you have any leftovers in the fridge for any lenth of time. Also it separates when chilled and left for a while but just give it a stir and it is like you just made it!
