Kentucky Biscuits

So Tasty! We moved to a high-altitude location and since I've had problems making my "tried and true" Bisquick recipe. So, I made this recipe just as the recipe was written and we enjoyed every bite...even better than my old recipe, and not much more difficult. Will make again and again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Yummy! Since I have to watch my salt, I didn't add salt until it was finished cooking. I found that the ham gave it plenty of salt. Also, at the end, I added some frozen peas for color.

Banana Oatmeal Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
We enjoyed these wonderfully soft cookies. I live at a high altitude and often experience flattened cookies. Not so with these. They were nice and plump. I agree with other reviewers that they only need to be cooked about 10 minutes.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
Yum! As many reviewers mentioned, they don't taste like store bought muffins, but much better. I followed the ideas of several reviewers and gently handled the dough after the first rising. Next time though, I will (as some suggested) let them rise longer on their second rise. 1/2 hour isn't suffient. They are a little time consuming to make, but make a large batch.

In Utah this is known as Funeral Potatoes since it is served at so many funerals.

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Yumm! Very good proportions. As others suggested I fried the bacon first, then sauted the onions in part of the remaining bacon grease. I like green bell peppers in baked beans, so I sauteed about 3/4 of a cup chopped peppers along with the onions.

Good and simple! Much easier to make than fried potatoes when serving fish.

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
This is a great recipe! As suggested by several reviewers, for the apple filling I added 1/4 cup flour. I also used 1/4 cup brown and a little less than 1/4 cup white sugar for the 1/2 cup all white sugar (since I used 6 yellow delicious apples that are sweeter) mixed the dry ingredients with the apples before placing the filling in the pie crust. Yummy crumble top! Definitely will make on a regular basis.

Best custard I've made. Even after keeping in the refrigerator for three days it was not watery. Thanks Carnation for this great recipe.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
What a delicious time saver. I followed another reviewer's suggestion to add 1/2 tsp. basil, 1/2 tsp. oregano, and 1/4 tsp. onion powder to the oil before adding it to the crust. Although I thought that would be too much spice, it was perfect. My dough hook on my mixer mixed it all together perfectly and after letting it rest the 5 minutes, it rolled out beautifully. I also brushed the edge of the crust with olive oil before baking. Since I had a commitment after rolling out the crust, I covered it and put it into the refrigerator for an hour before adding the toppings. Worked out great. Thanks submitter for this great and easy Pizza Crust recipe.

Zucchini Saute

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
Excellent dish to use my ever producing Zucchini. I would suggest sauteing garlic with onion just prior to adding Zucchini. Put tomato into boiling water for 1 minute to loosen skin before dicing. I made without mushrooms and was delicious, but would probably be extra special with mushrooms.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2008
I agree that this is a great Lasagna recipe, but like several suggested, I cut way back on the salt and found it was plenty salty. One teaspoon in sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon in ricotta cheese mixture does the trick.

Easy Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
Yumm! I followed the directions using the oven bag, but seared the roast (as several reviewers suggested) prior to putting into bag. I found it took about 1-1/4 hours for a 2 pound roast. Makes a delicious sauce for the pork. Very easy but impressive for dinner guests.
