Kidney Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
I too have made this recipe for years. My recipe doesn't call for the pickle relish but it does call for 1/2 cup grated carrots and 1 whole cup of chopped celery. More celery gives it a nice crunch and the carrots add color and nutrition. Give it a try...

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Most Banana Bread recipes call for three bananas, but this recipe requires at least five large. Great recipe for getting rid of all those healthy overripe bananas the kids haven't eaten and sneaking it into them a tasty way.

Easy Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
Yumm! I followed the directions using the oven bag, but seared the roast (as several reviewers suggested) prior to putting into bag. I found it took about 1-1/4 hours for a 2 pound roast. Makes a delicious sauce for the pork. Very easy but impressive for dinner guests.

Banana Oatmeal Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
We enjoyed these wonderfully soft cookies. I live at a high altitude and often experience flattened cookies. Not so with these. They were nice and plump. I agree with other reviewers that they only need to be cooked about 10 minutes.

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving, but decided before making it to cut down on the richness. I cut down the white sugar to 1/2 cup, the brown sugar to 3/4 cup, the flour to 1/3 cup and the butter to 1/4 cup. It turned out plenty sweet and rich. My grandchildren loved it and cleaned the dish.

Zesty French Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I prefer making homemade dressings where I can control the ingredients and not have to be concerned with what type of oil is in it and not have to worry about too much salt. This recipe fits the bill. Tasty and easy.... and like other reviewers have said, much like boughten Catalina Dressing without all the bad stuff.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Yummy! Since I have to watch my salt, I didn't add salt until it was finished cooking. I found that the ham gave it plenty of salt. Also, at the end, I added some frozen peas for color.

I've never been a big fan of oatmeal, but this recipe has changed my dislike. Yummy! and easy. It keeps well to savor the next day.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
My only complaint is that it is difficult to measure out the finished mix to add to the vinegar/oil mixture. The finer ingredients seem to settle into the bottom of the mix with the other seasonings on top.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
I guess I don't have very much of a sweet tooth because I found these too sweet for my taste. The dough was so easy to work with, but next time I will cut down on the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture. Also, I will cut into 16 pieces and put 4 of them into an additional 8" inch pan. I found that when cooking the whole recipe of 12 in a 9 x 13 pan, that the middle buns didn't get entirely done. I'll try them again with changes.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

I made these for a Church Potluck today with the hope that there would be some to take home. No such luck! So now I'll make another pan to keep my family happy.

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Many years ago my mother-in-law made a recipe called Candied Nuts. I very rarely made it since it was so much work. This recipe is every bit as good without all the many steps.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
Yum! As many reviewers mentioned, they don't taste like store bought muffins, but much better. I followed the ideas of several reviewers and gently handled the dough after the first rising. Next time though, I will (as some suggested) let them rise longer on their second rise. 1/2 hour isn't suffient. They are a little time consuming to make, but make a large batch.

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

Very tasty! As several reviewers mentioned, be sure and marinate for "several" hours, but best after marinating overnight.
