About this Cook
I'm a working Mom with three teenagers. Picky picky teenagers. I love to cook and just recently discovered I have a passion for baking. My husband is more than happy to test my fare of course which works for me when I talk him into helping with the cleanup!
My favorite things to cook
We love pizza and have started a pizza Friday tradition. I try to mix it up so the kids don't always eat the same thing. Spaghetti is another kid fave, but mine is to bbq. Anything and everything. I cook entire meals on the bbq year round.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When we were younger my mother would bake pies and there was always leftover crust. She would roll them out and bake them for us to eat warm with cheez whiz. Yumm
My cooking triumphs
I made my first ever cake from scratch at 35 and I'm sad I waited so long, it was amazing!
My cooking tragedies
My first ever soup at 16 years old was a travesty. I was just learning flavour combinations and knew garlic would enhance it but added garlic powder to the full pot of liquid instead of when cooking the veggies. It was terrible!

Traditional White Bread
I have been looking for a light and fluffy white bread, and boy this is perfect! My family devoured both loaves! Thanks for the great recipe.

Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake
I read the reviews and made this cake anyway! I am so glad that I did. I made exactly as the recipe stated though I used a different brand of chocolate. Mine took about 48 minutes to cook to perfection, and I dusted it with icing sugar instead of making the glaze. It is spectacular and will be going into my regular recipe rotation. Definitely try it once and if it's not what you love tweak it as others have, but try it just once as it calls for. My family loves it and I'll be surprised if it lasts more than a day!

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread
I have made this recipe twice already, it is my new go to white bread recipe. Very simple and with the use of quick rise yeast you can skip the bowl rise (still need to do sponge rise) cutting out an hour of prep time. I used all purpose flour as I did not have bread flour, but it turned out beautifully! Thanks to another reviewer for that tip about the flour or I might not have made it! Have sent the link to family as well, thanks for a great recipe!
