Really great base recipe. Substituting whole wheat penne for the pasta worked well. I also sauteed the mushrooms with some garlic before baking and added some diced zucchini. It's still excellent with 1/2 the cheese if you want to reduce the fat.

Winter Vegetable Hash

Really tasty! I added two teaspoons of Italian seasoning to increase the flavor, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Thanks for a great recipe.

Buttery Rolls

Butterhorn Rolls

These took a bit more time effort than I usually spend on roll, but they were worth it - buttery and light with a great flavor. They got raves at Thanksgiving. I followed the recipe exactly, other than using Butter Flavor Crisco instead of plain shortening.

These were easy to make and rose to a nice size. But, we didn't really enjoy the overall flavor. I'll try it again with the buttermilk and butter substitutions other reviewers recommended.

Tiramisu III

My first Tiramisu and it came out very well. The only substitution I made was Kahlua instead of brandy for soaking the ladyfingers. Delicious!

Best Lemonade Ever

Angel Biscuits II

Nice recipe. These were easier to make than I thought they would be and my family enjoyed them. The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the overall flavor wasn't great. Next time I will try butter flavor crisco instead of plain shortening and that should improve the taste.

Chocolate Chip Meringue

As noted by other reviewers, proportions of sugar and chips are off. Because there was too much sugar and my kitchen was a little humid, I ended up with marshmallow goo instead of meringue. It tasted good though, so I might try this again on a cooler day with less than 3/4 cup sugar and 1 cup chips.

Salmon with Brown Sugar and Bourbon Glaze

My husband loves this recipe. I've also made it with soy sauce instead of bourbon when I didn't have any on hand. It worked well and wasn't quite as sweet, so some of my family preferred the soy sauce version.

Chicken Piccata I

The chicken was excellent - tender and tasty. I'm going to use this breading method with many recipes. The sauce did not come out well - I'll use one of the other reviewers suggestions next time.

Modenese Pork Chops

Buttercream Icing

An excellent buttercream recipe. The combination of butter and shortening gives it the perfect texture and flavor. It did not make quite enough to frost a layer cake as thickly as I would like - next time I'll double the recipe.

Vanilla Ice Cream IV

The best vanilla ice cream recipe I've tried. I halved the recipe to make it fit my Krups machine and used the new pasteurized in the shell eggs to keep it safe for the family. Delicious.
