About this Cook
I'm a Reg.Nurse in a busy ER. I like to make treats for my coworkers to get them through a busy day. I usually like to make them just before going to work so it's hot out of the oven. This way everyone can enjoy them fresh. Therefore I use alot of simple recipes that are quick and delicious.
My favorite things to cook
I am definitely a baker more so then a cook. Desserts are my thing. I also like to make comfort foods ie roasts, stews and slow cooker recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make alot of traditional recipes at Christmas and holidays. I make a beans and brown bread I grew up with in Cape Breton. The house smells awsome when I make this. My Mom was an amazing cook who had a talent for making everything taste superb. I strive to be like her.Recipes I use are easy and well liked by family and friends. I don't believe in spending hours slaving over a meal. The recipes will be full of ingredients you have on hand and easy to prepare.
My cooking triumphs
For others to judge.
My cooking tragedies
I've had a few! but learned from them each time. That's what cooking is all about. You start off trying anything and everything then learn what works for you. Experience in the kitchen both triumphs and tragedies are what makes someone a better cook.

Homemade Dog Food
My very fussy 12 yo shih tzu LOVED it and has had so much more energy. I add an egg and cottage cheese (for calcium) and then place in food processor as she has not many teeth left. I keep in fridge and warm to room temp before feeding. So thankful to find a palatable recipe for her. I change up the meat for variety and once a week include organ meats for the iron. I have been buying ridiculously expensive tin foods from my vet and still had to coax her to eat. Not with this food she willingly gobbles it up and is healthier then she has ever been and I am spending less. A win-win. Thank you for this recipe redgirl !!

Salisbury Steak
I made this recipe this week and read up on all the suggestions and tweaked it to my preferences. This is a GREAT recipe and thanks to all who wrote their suggestions so I could gear it to my family's tastes.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup
OMG, delicious! I made this today with left over mashed potatoes, subbed a leek for an onion and half and half cream to save on some cal/fat. I used parsley in place of cilantro (had none :) It is fantastic, so tasty! I started this soup at 1120hrs and served it up at 1200......pretty fast and easy esp with the mashed potatoes. 5 stars!
