Creamy Banana Bread

Excellent combination of flavors. The addition of cream cheese is a definite plus. I did not include nuts and it was fine.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2005
Very nice. I left out the sugar and used chicken thighs rather than breasts and, come to think of it, forgot the lemon juice and cayenne but added fresh cilantro. My husband really liked it--suggested I make a big pot at the start of the week.

Spinach Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2004
Although I added garlic, as one person suggested, this recipe didn't have a lot of taste. I was thinking that nutmeg might be a spice to add to the spinach mixture. My husband suggested using a swiss cheese instead of parmesan. I liked the textures and the ease or preparation so will probably try it again -- but with some variations.

Chicken Scampi II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2004
Same as most folks -- I used less butter and less oil and added white wine. Husband really liked.

Aloo Gobi ki Subzi (Potatoes and Cauliflower)

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
This was okay. I didn't find the combination of mustard and cumin seeds to provide much flavor, so I also used red pepper, cumin, and coriander, which the aloo gobi recipe in my cookbook uses. I also added chicken broth to make it more saucy.

Crunchy Freeze

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2004
I grew up knowing this is the recipe as "Aunt Nancy's Ice Cream Cake," the Aunt Nancy being my great aunt from Missouri. This is one of the first desserts I learned to make as a girl and is still a great option in summer. It is best made a day ahead. And make sure you get the toasted mixture nice and crunchy (but it burns fast!).

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2004
I used bay seasoning as suggested (a heaping teaspoon) and reduced the salt to about a teaspoon. Let the shrimp sit for half an hour in the marinade. On my indoor grill, it took more like 5-6 minutes to get thr shrimp done.
