Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
The only change I made was that I used one envelope of chili seasoning mix (1 1/2 tbsp) instead of the 4 tbsp. I prefer a mild chili and one envelope was perfect. Adding more would add way too much sodium (1 envelope has 420mg). I had Mild Salsa on hand, so that is what I used. You could always make this hotter by using Hot Salsa or add chili powder. I will make this again.

Best Ever Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
This is just ok. I need to add ingredients to give it a little tang. I added more Worcestershire, a little chili powder, brown sugar and a little brown sugar. I think it's the celery that I'm not crazy about. I will stick with my mom's recipe for sloppy joes from the 50"s.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Fantastic! Wouldn't change a thing. Really watch the salt, esp. if your bacon is on the salty side. I did cut back the mayo to 3/4 cup and it was still VERY creamy. To speed things up I always keep cooked bacon in the freezer, so all I had to do was chop the bacon. The eggs were cooked at a gentle boil for about 12 minutes and put in very cold water for 5 minutes, then chopped(it saved about 15 minutes doing it this way). I also mixed the salad while the potatoes were very warm and it speeds up the flavors blending. I chilled the salad one hour before serving.

Mandarin Chicken Skillet

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
Although this was an easy recipe, I felt it need a bit more flavor. The flavors were just too mild for my taste. It was ok, not great. The chicken didn't seem to pick up any of the flavor, Maybe season the chicken before cooking. I served it over rice. It was a very attractive dish. I really rate it 3 1/2 stars.

Cranberry Walnut Cookies

Really liked these cookies. I had frozen cranberries and OJ concentrate that I wanted to use. Found this recipe and I'm glad I did. Too bad I don't have more cranberries, because I would make anther batch. I am not sharing these cookies with anyone LOL.

Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
Loved this recipe. I needed to make a salad dressing in a hurry. This was the first recipe I came to and I thought I would give it a try since I had all the ingredients on hand. Made it just as it is and my husband loved it. Most poppyseed dressings we have bought are very sweet and this one is on the slightly tangy side and not so supper sweet, which is why my husband loved it so much. I will make this again. Thanks!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
For a very easy, no bake dessert, this is very good. Made this using light cream cheese and light Cool Whip and it turned out great. You can use crunchy peanut butter if you like. I put this in an store bought Oreo Pie Crust because I like the combination of tastes.

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
Extremely easy recipe. I followed the directions except I cooked this in a 9x13 pan, covered with foil, at 350 in the oven for 40 minutes. I did not have sweet potatoes and had Mild Salsa on hand and I loved the taste. I did increase the liquid just a little because I was afraid of it drying out. Served this over rice. Very tasty.

Sausage Cabbage Skillet

I really enjoyed this easy meal. It had a European flavor to it. I did not change a thing. The worcestershire is the key to this dish and the green pepper did not overpower this dish. I would make again. Thanks for sharing

Chili II

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
That is was pretty good. I added 1/4 tsp cumin because I like the taste, but kept everything else the same. I like a mild chili so this one was perfect. I liked the balsamic vinegar. To thicken this a bit, I took the lid off the last 15 minutes and turned the heat up a bit to reduced the liquid. I will be making this again.

Tex-Mex Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
Very easy recipe. Made it just as written, but left out the corn only because my husband doesn't like corn. It had good flavor. Our soup was mild, but you could easily make it hotter by adding tabasco sauce or using med-hot salsa. Next time I will had the sour cream at the end of the cooking time. That is really the only thing I would do differently. If this soup gets to hot the sour cream will curdle. I will make this again. If I don't have turkey I will use chicken.

Skillet Sweet and Tangy Pork Chops

I wanted something quick and easy and this was perfect. I did season the chops with a little seasoned salt before browning. They cooked for 15 minutes. It is amazing what tomato soup can do to a recipe

Sweet Potato Pie

Very easy to make. The texture is nothing like pumpkin pie(which is how it is supposed to be)and I liked it. The taste was very good, but is VERY sweet,I would cut back on the sugar a bit.

Campbell's® Creamy Dijon Chicken with Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
This was ok. Didn't hate it but did love it. The sauce was not bad, but the chicken really didn't have any flavor. I think I would try it with chicken thighs. It was very easy to make, but needed a little something. Maybe marinate the breast for flavor.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Very good chili. Spices were perfect. I omited the cheese and added 1 tsp chili powder. I would make again. This is more of a soup, so if you want it thicker, cut back to 2 cans stock and let it reduce by cooking uncovered for 30-60 minutes.

Preety's Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I loved this recipe. I would not change a thing. I did not think the onions were over powering. Instead of drizzling the salad with cider vinegar, I squeezed lemon juice. I will make this dish again. It would be a perfect salad to bring to a picnic or BBQ.

One-Dish Beef Stroganoff and Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
The sauce was ok, a little on the thin side and could use a bit more flavor. I have to say this was a very quick and easy dish to make. Using uncooked noodles saved a lot of time. I did not have yogurt so I used lite sour cream instead.

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
A very easy recipe. We served this with a pork roast. Very tasty, I added an additonal 2 TBSP of sugar to make it a little on the sweeter side. Our German and Polish guests loved the dish. I put this in my recipe collection.

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Very Good with some changes. I cut back the lemon juice and heavy cream to 4 tbsps and used about 3/4 a stick of butter instead of two sticks. I think you could easily cut back the butter to a 1/4 cup without compromising the flavor. Even with cutting way back on the butter, this dish was still a little greasy. I did not have cappers or artichoke hearts, so they were not used. I used cooked bacon and cut back the amount of chicken to three breasts. I really liked the lemon flavor and the butter still shined through in this dish. I would make this again but try it with only 1/4 cup butter. It definitly had a restaurant flair about it.

Italian-Style Round Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
This was a very easy recipe. I love basil so I increased the amount to 1/2 tsp. After browning the meat, I cooked the garlic a little and then added all the ingredients at once instead of adding during the last 30 minutes. The tomato sauce tenderized the meat and the sauce had a richer taste because it cooked longer. I would make this again!
