Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
I absolutely hate squash, but you know how it is when those friends with green thumbs are generous. Great way to get the produce off my counter and unbelievable flavor infused with a comforting warmth.

An eggy warm bread compiled with crisp bacon and infused with the smooth flavor of a fried egg and warm subtle syrup - I ask you, what's not to love?!

Caramelized Onions on the Grill

Wow this is a hard recipe to screw up, and as a novice griller I am very grateful. This recipe really helped convince my dad to let me work his grill more often!

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
I used this recipe for some Omaha top sirloin steaks. I left them in the marinade for 6 hours and that was just right for eight 4 oz steaks.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
SUPER RECIPE! I followed others' advice by mixing in about a T of Miracle Whip and using sharp finely shredded cheddar. The family doesn't really like peppers and I was out of onions so I just piled it high with the broccoli and grated carrots.

Billy's Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Great basic starter recipe. I was looking for a chicken pasta salad w/out the grapes and nuts. I cooked the chicken in 5 cloves of minced garlic. Once it cooled I added the garlic infused chicken while leaving the minced bits out. Also, I put more kick into the dressing by adding 2 tsp of lemon juice, 1-2 tbs of white vinegar, 1/4 c- 1/2 c of sugar, 2 tsp of paprika, and a splash of milk to better the consistency. Delish!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Fantastic flavor. It doesn't over power the chicken and gives the chicken a "lil' pop" to it. I marinated it for about 3 hours. Also I didn't have rosemary so I just replaced it with sweet leaf basil. Very pleased with it all around.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
There were a lot of mixed feelings about this sauce at my house. Some devoured it and others just picked at it. It's very good but it seems to be lacking something in the sense of an "old world" taste. It's worth cooking at least once though if tomato sauces aren't your forte.

Banana Pancakes I

These were really good, a bit bland for me. No complaints though and they come together very satisfactory. If you are looking for a knock your socks off kind of pancake try the Pumpkin Pancake recipe on this site.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
A very reliable recipe. Followed exactly and pleased with the turn out. Everyone loved it and I ran out within 30 minutes of serving it. I used real/fresh lemons and that cut down on what some ppl might have been refering to as overly sweet.

Magic Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
This is an awesome recipe. I usually throw two lemons in the blender and then strain the juice allowing some pulp to slip in. That will take care of any excessive sweetness ppl have mentioned. A wonderful pie that should be made a summer tradition!

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This recipe is delish! I made quite a bit of this since it needed to feed 30 people. My first batch I goofed and prepared the pudding. No worries, it mixed in great! I actually liked it better with the prepared pudding mixed in (Mix according to pie directions on box). Someone made the suggestion of soaking the bananas in the pineapple juice - Do it! That being said...awesome recipe!!!

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
A real winner. I sifted all the ingredients (minus butter) and used a cookie press to place them on the baking trays. A great shortbread. I really enjoyed the subtle amount of sweetness and texture.

I was very surprised - an awesome cookie. I prepared the recipe as it read with the exception of sifting the cake mix and then the sugar. This cookie just melts in your mouth!

Jet Swirl Pizza Appetizers

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
Eh, it was good. For some reason I was expecting an explosion in taste. I'm giving it five stars because it shouldn't be faulted for my expectations. It produced everything promised from ease to impressing those who saw it. I do suggest you take away some grease by microwaving the pepperoni on some napkins.

Pasties II

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
This is a great recipe. I made it exactly as is. For those who thought it was bland the beauty of pasties - they can be adjusted to your tastes by adding other meats, spices, and herbs. Many people eat them with ketchup. If you have a hard time working with pie crust two pieces of cellophane can solve that problem. Roll the dough out between the two sheets. When the dough is the thickness and shape you need remove the top sheet and proceed to fill. Then use the bottom sheet of cellophane to fold over the pasty. Again great recipe!
