About this Cook
I'm a Tex-patriate living in the Washington DC area. Looking forward in a few years to moving back home, where you can get real Tex-Mex cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Yakitori, Texas style chili, Red Beans and Sausage, Pinto Beans, Beans with Wieners, Banana Pudding, BBQ Pulled Pork, Tamales, Chili Rellenos, Thai style Tom Yum Soup, Taco Salad, Meatball Sinigang, Southwestern CousCous Salad, Miso Soup, Shrimp Tempura, Sausage Gravy with Biscuits
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Chex Mix for all important sports events (Olympics, Super Bowl, etc.) Gathering at least a couple of times a month and cooking Lechon (Filipino Roast Pig)
My cooking triumphs
I'm famous in the family for my Chili Con Carne I invented Meatball Sinigang, which is a sour soup made with vegetables and meatballs, made sour with tamarind powder.
My cooking tragedies
Growing up I would always somehow manage to burn the beans on the stove. So I don't cook those very often anymore, and always use a crockpot!

Quick and Easy Pancit
In our house, we use chicken broth to add some more flavor for the noodles. Also some shrimp and other veggies (red bell pepper, celery, etc.) may make an appearance, depending on what's in the refrigerator.

The best wintertime meals need a long, slow simmer while you're doing something else.
