About this Cook
Growing up both of my parents worked so my brothers and sisters and I often did a lot of the cooking. Mostly hamburger helper and whatever was easy but I learned to like to cook early on. I lived in Spain for a couple years in my early twenties and learned to love the Mediterranean style of cooking. Today I love to try anything that I haven't tried before. I'm not an amazing cook but people tell me they like my cooking and I enjoy making things.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook seafood. Cooked my first lobster not too long ago it was great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom was great at making simple recipes that looked a lot more complicated. I try to follow her traditions in my own cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I once decided to enter a contest for desserts when I haven't hardly baked anything in my life. I frankenstiened like 3 different recipes together for a fruit pizza and it turned out amazing. I won the contest and people were begging me for the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I like to experiment but sometimes experiments just go completely wrong. I threw together some stuff one time that I thought would go together well...my wife had a hard time choking it down so I know it was an utter failure.

Creamy Curried Chicken
it wasn't horrible, but not something I would make again.

Orange Tilapia
Excellent recipe, just make sure to put it under the broiler to get a nice crunch on top. I also used freshly squeezed orange juice and some zest for extra orange flavor. It was delicious paired with some orange glazed carrots and rice with orange zest, cranberries and pistachios. Yum.

Sole with Bananas
I thought it was so weird I just had to try it, and actually it was pretty darn good. Although I'm not a huge fan of the directions, why don't you just describe how you're supposed to make a rue instead of saying mix flour butter and milk?? Anyway not bad at all once you figure out how you're really supposed to make it. I would make it again but perhaps with a little less wine and maybe more lime juice.
