Claire's Yummy Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I'm sorry to say that I found this recipe exceptionally disappointing. I made it exactly according to the recipe and found that the crepes were very thick, tough, floury, and tasteless. I had previously had crepes made from another recipe on this site which were just as easy to make and were absolutely wonderful -- light and tender with a delicate, subtle egg flavor and just a hint of sweetness. I will definitely keep looking for the original recipe.

Date Nut Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
The "base" of this recipe is perfect as is, thus the five stars. When I happened to make them, however, we had an excess of raisins on hand and also my oldest son had been lobbying hard for something with coconut, so I added some of both. Heaven. Absolute heaven. Every single person in our extended family insisted that I HAD to write this recipe in the hard copy cookbook and promise to make it OFTEN! (And if you knew my family, you would know that the chances of winning the lottery are better than all of them even liking something, much less raving about it!) Again, the basic flavor of this bar is amazing. So feel free to experiment with additions and combinations with confidence -- I can't imagine a dried fruit or a nut that wouldn't be delicious in it.

This Baklava is truly amazing. My brother, who lives in Manhattan and who is very, VERY discerning when it comes to 'the best' foodwise (having experienced all of the finest restaurants in the world as he likes to remind me)has fallen head-over-heels for his sister's "Best Baklava I've Ever Had!" So much so, that now I know what I can get for Christmas every year for the 'man who has everything' :)

Blueberry Pie

When fruit pies are TOO WATERY, try adding one or two tablespoons of TAPIOCA (crushed, not the pearl type). It thickens the fruit without risking having a cornstarchy or flour-y flavor.
