About this Cook
I enjoy trying new recipes especially those using fresh herbs. I'm trying to learn to satisfy my diabetic husband's sweet tooth by learning to use Splenda instead of sugar.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian, homemade soups and stews, desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All four of my grandparents are immigrants from Italy and Sicily so I cook both northern and southern Italian dishes. I frequently make family favorites such as marinara sauce and meatballs, risotto Milanese, and Italian sausage and peppers. My husband is Scotch and English and he loves the southern cooking he grew up eating so I've learned a lot of those recipes as well. His favorites are crawfish piled high on a tray, gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and other Cajun specialties. I frequently make our family's favorites... overnight beef brisket, sunshine lemon cake, Texas chocolate sheet cake, broccoli cheese soup, and fried rice (a recipe I learned while in Japan).

Chicken Fajitas that taste exactly like those served at Chili's Restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
My husband still reminds me (after 30 years) about the chicken casserole with sour cream and some kind of chips on top that was a disaster.

Sugar Coated Pecans
I followed the recipe exactly, I tripled it for Christmas and got RAVES! My son calls from college regularly and orders his "care package" of these pecans. I can't keep them around the house because I can't resist eating them! Great recipe!

Iced Mocha Fusion Shake
This was delicious! I didn't have the mocha mix, so I used Folgers instant decaf and 2 or 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa. This deserves more than 5 stars!
