About this Cook
I've been married since 1970 to my wife, Cindy, who I met her first hour of college at Memphis State University(now University of Memphis}. We have two daughters and 8 grandchildren. My favorite hobby is making muzzleloader rifle and ready the history and stories of America from 1750-1840. What a heritage we have.
My favorite things to cook
Chinese dishes from 6 provinces, Bavarian, Tuscan, Sicilian, Korean, BBQ 15% of my meals. I can't use recipes. I read and create from that. in 1973 we went to Spain through southern France. The French would not wait on us, actually walking past or table at several restaurants, same treatment at gas stations. So, I don't even use French salad dressing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father's mother had a small diner in Brooklyn. Her heritage was Sicilian. His father was of German heritage. My mother was a Southern girl from Memphis. I spent a year in Korea in the Army, 3 in Bavaria. I cook all kinds of Chinese dishes for my very large family(40) the Saturday before Christmas. Growing up on Long Island, my father took the family of 8 to NYC on Christmas eve. Rockefeller Center, Macy's and other big window displays and down to Chinatown for dinner. Roasted Chestnuts from street vendors. I kept the family Chinese dinner at my house since 1974 only missing 3 years since I started cooking for the family. Time Square is glorious at Christmas time.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list.
