Hi! I'm an American teenager in Arizona, and I live with my Mom, Dad, and two other siblings. I go to school at an online virtual academy, as my other two siblings do, too. My sister is graduating this year, and my brother is graduating next year. I'm interested in technology and music, and plan to go to college and get a PhD in Computer Science when I graduate high school. In the meantime, I spend my free time I usually either going on runs, being on the computer. Sometimes, I play guitar or cook up some dessert. Cooking is something I usually do once or twice a week.
My favorite things to cook
Brownies and cookies, and I also seldom make cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Me = cook from scratch. Family = cook from box.
My cooking triumphs
There was this one time when I grabbed the recipe "Simple White Cake" (from AllRecipes), and added some cinnamon to the batter before putting it in the oven, and it tasted JUST LIKE CARROT CAKE. It tasted better than the mass-produced box recipes. That's more than I can say for a lot of the things I bake, and don't turn out as good as the box recipes.
My cooking tragedies
Once I tried to make Mexican Flan... And it was pretty easy until I had to make the caramel. It sounded easy, but it was really hard... for me that is. The first time I tried to make caramel, the sugar wouldn't melt... Second and third time it burnt and then hardened (Tip: if you have hardened caramel that won't come off your pan, let it soak in water for a few hours.... The caramel, like, disappears.), and the fourth time I tried to force the caramel to go into the pan, then I tried to dump the liquid flan mix into the pan... Then as I was trying to quickly put it in the oven, I was hearing the caramel hardening so... yeah, I wasted a bunch of ingredients on that. And what's even worse... We didn't get any flan to eat.
