Shepherd's Pie VI
OMG I have made this RECIPE almost seventy times, LITERALLY!
It tastes 100% almost exactly like what you would get at an Irish Pub. Wifey-poo loves it when I make this, and when the innies (it's what we call the in-laws) come for a visit I make sure to make a double batch to ensure enough grub for all!!!! LOL!!!
I've changed this 5-STAR RECIPE a little bit to make it worth 5-stars.
First, instead of beef I use ground lamb (c'mon, if it was beef, it'd be COTTAGE PIE, LOL!!)
I like to do a brown butter mashed potato/parsnip mixture instead of the straight ahead 'tatos. Simmer the butter on low-med for 15 or so minutes AND THEN ADD the BOILED potatoes and parsnips to the mix. Make's 'em so much more tasty.
Instead of ketchup, I reduce tomato paste with Guinness and worchesterchisire sauce and add that to the lamb mix.
And I don't do the carrot mash, instead adding FROZEN corn.
BUT I DO ADD FRESH THYME TO BOTH THE POTATOES AND THE MEAT MIXTURE
Also instead of beef I use turkey.
I LOVE THIS RECIPE!!
