About this Cook
I am a training and performance improvement consultant with my own business. I have three daughters and one son. Along with cooking I am also an avid gardener with a special love for chile peppers, both in the garden and in my food.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking spicy food, but some of my favorite dishes to attempt to replicate are my grandmothers classic southern dishes like her greens, lentel soup and skillet corn bread. I am always looking for new flavor combinations as weel. Most recently I have been toying with sweet and spicy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The real family tradition in my family is to cook a lot. I have an enormous family and every holiday is an excuse to get together and cook/eat. Whether it's traditional thanksgiving or an easter feast, we love to cook and eat.
My cooking triumphs
My love of cooking and spicy food led me to create a website called OnePepperPlace.com in which I interviewed the most famous chilehead in the world, Dave Dewitt, who is the author of dozens of books on cooking and gardening chiles. I am also very proud of my slow cooked fragrant curry beef which I perfected over the course of a year and has become a fan favorite with my family I
My cooking tragedies
In trying to impress my soon to be in-laws, I attempted a portabello pasta that turned out a dull gray color and did nothing to improve my cooking self-esteem. Needless to say it was still a success and I've been happily married (and cooking for my in-laws) ever since. :)
