I am blessed with a wonderful husband of 2 1/2 years....and it only took me 25 years to snag him.;) We met while still in high school at a music competition in his home state of SC. I lived in VA at the time and we "dated" long distance for about 3 years. We drifted and managed to reconnect with each other about 4 years ago through classmates.com. We were meant to be together and even though it took us 25 years to get here, it was worth the wait.
My favorite things to cook
I've always been big on comfort foods...I obviously have southern roots; but lately, I've branched out to seafood. Grilling fish is one of my new favorite things to do.(catfish, tilapia, etc. are great on the grill)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always loved our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. We have a baked chicken instead of turkey, macaroni "pie" (for you Northerners, this is a baked macaroni cheese), cornbread-sage dressing with giblet gravy, green beans (cooked all day long w/fat back or some other ham product), fresh creamed corn, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, yeast rolls and of course several deserts.
My cooking triumphs
I don't know that I've had any great triumphs. I guess that fact that no one has complained about my cooking anything is triumph enough.
My cooking tragedies
I can only think of one time when something did NOT turn out like it should have. When I was single, my roommate and I had both of our families over for Thanksgiving dinner. She wanted to make homemade gravy, but didn't know how to. I talked her through it and it looked great, but by the time it made it to the table in the gravy boat, the gravy ladle actually stood at attention in the middle of the gravy. We could've used it as drywall mud...
