Water Chestnuts Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
This is such a quick appetizer to make. The unexpected crunch of the water chestnut and the all american favorite bacon . . . a perfect combo.

A little salty (an easy fix), but otherwise perfect.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
This has just become my new go-to banana bread recipe. Moist and delicious. I mashed the bananas (increased it to 3) and also added 1/3+ cup mini chocolate chips.

Simple White Cake

It was okay, but that's about it. I will keep looking for a really good homemade white cake recipe.

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
Not the best I've had, I think it was the shortening. I prefer an all butter buttercream. The search for the perfect icing continues. . . .

Caramel Pretzel Nut Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
Delicious! I might try to find another way to mix it together the next time I make it, a lot of the caramel was on the bottom of the bag and I couldn't get it to distribute. Some of it is a little chewy, I think I would put those clusters in the oven next time; but overall a great recipe.

I took these to a football party and had lots of rave reviews on them. Couldn't ask for an easier recipe.

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Easy and delicious! I substituted onion powder for the onion and left out the redwine vinegar. The grease from the bacon does sit on top initially, but I found that if I stir the beans before serving, the bacon grease adds wonderful flavor. Thanks for sharing this recipe - it is my "go-to" baked bean recipe now.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Outstanding! I made a few small changes, like adding the black beans, and since I used Ro-tel tomoatoes I did not add extra chiles. I didn't drain any of the canned goods and this was so tasty and could not be any easier.

My family enjoyed this recipe. The only changes I made were that I used chopped rotisserie chicken and added some extra veggies.

Super Easy Hazelnut Pastries

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
These were okay the first day they were made, but by the second day they had turned hard and unappetizing. My son, who LOVES Nutella, didn't think much of them.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
These were just okay. I think they need a little more chocolate, maybe chopped or mini chips?? They are without a doubt, a labor of love to make because they are so sticky.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
I made this recipe exactly as it is, except I put it in the refrigerator to be baked the next day. The dough remained hard even after 4 hours of sitting out at room temp. The cookies were so dry and crumbly, I couldn't even get them rolled in the powdered sugar without them disentegrating. I may try this one more time to see if it was the refreration that ruined them or just a bad recipe. For me - the jury is out on this one. ***update** I made these again, and while in my taste they are just okay, some friends of mine loved them. So definitely a mixed review here, but DO NOT REFRIGERATE THIS DOUGH!!!!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
This is a variation of a recipe I had. While we liked it, I gave it only 4 stars because I practically doubled the amount of bread called for and still the seasonings were quite strong. So overall, good but i would decrease the amount of sausage and herbs.

This was delicious -- will definitely make again. I followed the recipe exactly except that I cooked it on the stove. I am actually looking forward to the leftovers tonight.
