I'm independent and self sufficient. I fell in love with Julia Child and the chef's of that day. I've cut back on cooking since my family has grown up but I still cook carefully for myself. I'm a craft soap maker and run a specialty dog and pet sitting home.
My favorite things to cook
Right now, I'm focasing on cooking for my boarding house for special needs pets. but I love chicken, fish and in summer, grilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Nana was old NY dutch with Pennsylvania ties so her 'girl' cleaned but she ran the kitchen. Cooking German and Dutch dishes from scratch is my passion. I still treasure her cook book from 1892. My Hungarian mother taught me many of her old wold foods as well. My life in NY city gave me the opportunity to take classes at many locations.
My cooking triumphs
back a few years it was nothing for me to put togeter a semi formal, multi course dinner for 10. My favorite was Smithfield ham and many other courses based on a Williamsburg VA cookbook.
My cooking tragedies
the thanksgiving turky that slid off the platter, skittered across the floor and under a corner table, gathering a crust of dust bunnies as it went.
