I had a 30 year career as a CPA.
But luckily the last 10 years were from home part-time allowing me to unleash my Domestic Goddess.
I've always like to cook (but no time) but I discovered I LOVE to Cook!
I use Fresh Ingredients From Scratch BUT with a cost/time/effort consideration
I CAN make a pumpkin pie from a Pumpkin--BUT canned pumpkin is just pumpkin!
My favorite things to cook
I do love "Comfort Food"--which is different for everyone. Some comes from memory, some comes from stomach feel, some comes from sensory satisfaction. So always try to relate Great food to an "event" (e.g. as simple as Pizza Night or exotic as Chinese New Year)--then it becomes Comfort Food!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom did not cook!
I had surrogate families growing up including a Mexican family who cooked from scratch and a retired Navy family who cooked meat, potato, vegetable family style dinners.
How Lucky Was I!
AS AN ADULT
Christmas Eve-Chicken Enchiladas
New Year's Day-Huevos Rancheros
St Patty's Day (My brothers Bday AND my husband is fully 50% NY Irish) Lamb and Champ in a Shephard's Pie! Guiness on the side!
My cooking triumphs
My cooking tragedies
I didn't start learning to cook until I married at 19 so it took me a few tries BUT because of my surrogate families growing up I knew what good food should taste (and look) like.
My husband didn't know the definition of "plating" until I came along. Food is a 5-sensory experience
