Old-Fashioned Peach Cream Pie

I gave this recipe four stars versus five simply because I didn't think the topping was the best choice. If I'd left well enough alone and not added it then this would definite have been a five-star recipe! Besides, is there anything much better than pie ala mode? The sour cream gives the pie just enough "zip" to keep it from being overly sweet, and the use of fresh peaches made it extra yummy. Thanks, Cat Berner, for sharing this recipe!

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

Personally, I think these biscuits are better than the ones they serve at RL. I served them with a tomato tortellini soup recipe I found at another site and it was like dipping wonderfully chewy, moist, and cheesy breadsticks into a creamy marinara sauce. The only change I made was to follow the recommendation of other reviewers to add baking soda. This was unanimously voted "a keeper".

Cilantro Tomato Corn Salad

I made this recipe as a side dish for a spicy beer can chicken, thinking it would be a nice combo of zip (taste) and cool (by serving it chilled). While I thought it would be an okay accompaniment, I had no idea it would be the hit that it was. Everyone who tried it ended up getting seconds. My husband voted it "a keeper"; he just asked that I saute' the onions a little longer next time as he's not a big fan of crunchy onions, preferring them softer. I only made one change to this recipe and that was to use frozen corn, which I "nuked" to thaw out before adding it to the other ingredients waiting in the skillet. The only reason was that it's not "corn season" yet, and I was too impatient to wait that long to give it a try.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

This pasta salad was a big hit with my family. My 24-year-old son came in today looking for (actually, hoping for) leftovers, but there wasn't one single bite that hadn't been eaten the night before. My husband, son, son-in-law, and daughter have all asked that I prepare it again - the sooner the better!

Apple and BBQ Sauce Baby Back Ribs

This recipe is definitely a keeper. I made it for the first time last night and everyone loved it - two racks of ribs are GONE. Grilling them in the foil packets covered with sauce made for ribs so tender the meat was falling off the bones. The BBQ sauce and applesauce combination gave just the right sweet/spicy taste. These are definitely going to become a staple in my menu planning. ETA: The last time I made these ribs I used a disposable foil pan rather than wrapping them in sheets of foil. Believe me, it didn't affect the taste at all, but was much, much easier to handle on the grill. I just prepared the ribs as directed using the foil pan, which I then covered with foil. Made cleanup a breeze.

Angel Hair Pasta Salad

I've been making this salad on a regular basis each summer for the past two years. Everyone I make it for raves. The longer it sets in the fridge the better, as the ranch flavor soaks into the pasta. I've also made it sans shrimp as quick and easy side dish for BBQ'd or grilled meat. A couple of times I substituted cold chicken for the shrimp (a great way to use up leftover chicken) and that's also delicious. Spring is here, and I'm getting a hankering for this salad again so time to stock up on the angel hair pasta and ranch dressing!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

GREAT soup! I went ahead and doubled it, simply doubling the entire ingredient list as it was given. The only change I made was to add a little kosher salt and crack some pepper, for personal taste preferences. I served it in large dishes, spooned over chunks of sour dough bread, the lazy woman's sourdough bread bowl. I'll definitely be making this recipe again in the near future.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

This recipe had a great flavor, thanks I believe to the use of red wine. I modified it a bit by sauteeing some minced fresh garlic with the onion. I also had to thin it out a bit with the addition of some beef broth so we'd have enough gravy to sop up with rolls. No thickening needed here! Overall, the stew was a hit, with my son-in-law eating three bowls full and asking if he could take some of the leftovers to work for lunch the next day. I'll definitely make this one again on the next cold, snowy day we have...uhhh, tomorrow, I think!

Sinfully Delicious Chocolate Pie

I made this pie for Thanksgiving, and not only did every crumb get "gobbled" up, but I've had multiple requests to make it again for Christmas dinner. Follow the directions exactly for adding the eggs. This is well worth the time and effort.
