About this Cook
I am a wife of 9 years and stay at home mom to a sweet little boy and girl. Cooking is how I relax and I do it often. There's nothing more that I love than to see my family enjoying a meal I've prepared.
My favorite things to cook
Im a baker at heart: Anything to do with dough or batter: Breads, biscuits, fritters, pancakes, cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, rolls, pizza dough... Ive done them all and over time gotten pretty good at it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever I cook something from youth like my Mom's Olive spaghetti sauce or my Grandmothers Gooey Butter cake, it takes me right back to my childhood and Im so glad that I can share these recipes with my family now.
My cooking triumphs
My Banana Cream Pie recipe won a small pie contest that was hosted by my Mom's group. By my reaction, you would have thought I won the National Pillsbury Bake Off. It made my day! Also, I hosted my first Thanksgiving in 2009. There was a perfect mix of new and traditional. Everything was great. The turkey was wonderful, and then (tragedy to follow...)
My cooking tragedies
The morning after my first Thanksgiving, I was preparing the turkey carcass to make another homemade stock and realized that I had left the "neck" bag in the cavity. Who knew there were 2 bags!?! My husband convinced me that I had poisoned everyone. Thankfully, this was not the case.

Warm Dijon Potato Salad
I substituted a large shallot in place of the green onion and red onion (that's what I had on hand) and reduced the red pepper a bit. This was so good! Also added about 1T dried parsley.

Autumn Apple Salad II
What a great recipe! I took some liberties based on what I had. Gala apples, sunflower seeds and fresh blueberries. Sprinkled with cinnamon. Kids thought we were having dessert after lunch!

Molly's Chicken
I made this exactly as written, and it's a keeper. Perfect for a simple weeknight meal. My husband said to put it on the rotation, so it must be good. Next time I will use a lower sodium soy sauce, but even as is, it's good. Thank you for a great meal made with pantry staples!
