Brownie In a Mug

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
I think that cooking oil ruins the flavor of most things in the baking category. I try to avoid it at all costs. I tried this recipe (and several others around the net) and they all pretty much weighed in the same- just OK. I set out to make my own version which is lower calories, better single serve portion and can be made in the microwave!

Banana Bread - Quick Bread for Machines

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
Very moist. I reduced the cooking oil to 1 tbsp and added 3 tbsp of sour cream. I used the quick bread setting on my machine as others suggested. I also added cinnamon and nutmeg. Very good base recipe for sweet bread in the machine!

Great cakey recipe. I actually added sour cream and applesauce in place of oil and used it as a cake recipe! Very delicious!!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
Bread rose nicely. I agree with getting a kick-start on the yeast. The cautionary tale of yeast not touching wet ingredients is great for delayed baking. Easy to make but for me and my family, a little flavorless. I could taste the vegetable oil too much. I tried a few times with different oils; canola, blended vegetable, and extra light tasting olive oil. All really came out the same having too much of a cooking oil taste.

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
How bizarre. I have 20 year old recipe card from my mother in-laws box that has THIS EXACT recipe on it. In the notes, it says it was from a church bake sale. Apparently, 20 years ago, this recipe got around! Never the less, I have made it a zillion times and it is delicious! You can sub oil for sour cream and it is even better! It freezes well too!

Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
The reason for the 4 star rating is because I didn't like the frosting with this it was too sweet and overpowered the delicious flavor of the cake. The cake itself is a 5 star cake! I used the "Whipped Cream Cream Cheese frosting listed on AR and it was the perfect substitute!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
This is excellent! The texture is light and fluffy for a cream cheese frosting. I whip the cream until it is like fluffy clouds. The hint of salt is adds a nice balance. I use this on the "Strawberry Dream" cake because the white chocolate frosting that is on that recipe is too sweet.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Divine! The spices reminds me of the holidays and my whole house smelled good when I made them. Very cake like and the other reviewers were right about how moist the cookie is. I left the out all day and they stayed perfectly fresh. The only modification to the recipe that I made was the icing application. I poured the icing in to a zip-lock bag and cut a tiny corner off the bottom then squeezed the icing on to the cookie.

Autumn Harvest Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Good cookie, but definitely a cookie for an adult pallet. It is somewhat bitter with the cranberries which was good but the cookie itself was not sweet enough for my guests. I myself enjoyed the cookie but was outvoted. If I tried this recipe again I might add more sugar or consider an sweet orange icing to zip it up.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
This is a summer favorite in my house. Just about every time we have company I make it. I use no sugar added raspberry preserves and I only put 1/2 tbsp of the sugars in it. I also sub raspberries for black berries. It gives the "salsa" an interesting color and I like the flavor better. I am naughty when it comes to the cinnamon chips however and I use butter flavored crisco! Delicious!!!!
