Make-Ahead Slow Cooker Beef Stew
Increase the marsala wine to at least 1/2 cup and use it to deglaze the pan after frying the beef. Then pour this into the slow cooker. There's a lot of flavor in the pan. Add some garlic. Instead of worcestershire sauce, I like teriyaki sauce. Thicken the stew with cornstarch and water when it's done. Also goes great with dumplings.

Slow Cooker Sweet-and-Sour Pot Roast
Missing all of the goodness from the skillet (there's a lot of flavor left). After removing the meat, deglaze with a bit of wine or broth and pour that into the slow cooker. I also like a bit more seasoning, like garlic, basil, black pepper, seasoned salt.

Coq au Vin
Instead of bacon bits, use real bacon. Fry it up and then brown the chicken in the bacon grease. Remove the chicken and leave only about a tablespoon of grease in the pan. Add the mushrooms, onions and other seasonings. Increase the bouillon to a full teaspoon. Pour in the wine and deglaze the pan then add the water. Thicken with cornstarch instead of flour.
